“Good marketers see consumers as complete human beings with all the dimensions real people have.” Jonah Sachs 🌿

Good marketing is about far more than simply selling a product or service.

It's about understanding people, building trust and creating genuine connections with your audience. The businesses that leave the biggest impact are often the ones that make people feel seen, understood and values.

At Escape the Village, we believe marketing should feel human, approachable and authentic, especially for small and rural businesses wanting to connect with the right audience in a meaningful way.Because behind every click, follow and enquiry is a real person 💚

Question of the day 👀

What tools do you use to help streamline your social media management tasks?

Whether it’s scheduling platforms, content planning apps, design tools or analytics dashboards, having the right systems in place can make managing social media feel far less overwhelming.

Some businesses love tools like Canva or Meta Business Suite, whilst others prefer keeping things simple with a good content calendar and a strong routine.

At Escape the Village, we know there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. The best tools are the ones that work for you and your business. We’d love to hear your favourites 👇

Client feedback like this means the world to us 🌿

“ I have always found Liz to be a knowledgeable and hardworking professional. She has a can do, will, action orientated manner which will bring benefit to whoever she works with.”

A huge thank you to Adrian for the kind words and continued support.

At Escape the Village, we’re passionate about helping businesses feel supported, understood and confident in their marketing and business journey. Building strong working relationships and genuinely making a difference for our clients is always at the heart of what we do.

It's always lovely to hear that our approach is having a positive impact 💚

We might work with some incredible gardeners, but don’t ask us to identify a perennial from a w**d! 🌿

What we DO know is that you can’t have a prize-winning bloom without healthy dirt.

In business, it’s so easy to get caught up in "pruning the leaves": fiddling with a website font or obsessing over a single post. But if the soil is dry, those leaves will just wilt anyway.

"Feeding the soil" is the real work. It’s your strategy, your business systems, and your own energy as a founder. When the foundation is rich and supported, growth happens naturally rather than feeling like a constant, exhausting uphill battle.

At Escape the Village, we’re all about the business soil. We help our clients: from landscape designers to local mechanics: build a sustainable environment where their work can actually flourish.

Are you spending too much time pruning lately, or are you making time to feed the roots?

Today marks a very special milestone in the rural calendar: the 20th Anniversary of Open Farm Sunday! 🚜🌾

Our countryside wouldn’t be what it is without the incredible dedication of the farmers who work tirelessly behind the scenes. From the early morning starts to the late-night harvests, they are the true backbone of our rural communities.

Operating from our village base, we see this dedication firsthand. We are incredibly proud to support so many wonderful clients in the agricultural sector and to play a small part through local sponsorships that champion our farming neighbours.

Open Farm Sunday is such a brilliant way to see that hard work in action. It’s a chance to step onto the land, meet the people who grow our food, and appreciate the passion that goes into managing our beautiful landscapes.

Thank you to every farmer opening their gates today. Here’s to twenty years of connection!

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. We pause to remember the extraordinary courage of those who landed on the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago.
Their sacrifice paved the way for our freedom, and we owe a debt of gratitude to every veteran and those currently serving in our Armed Forces. Your dedication and bravery will never be forgotten.
Today, we honour the legacy of the heroes of Operation Overlord. Lest we forget.

Being your own boss is a bit of a juggling act, isn’t it? One minute you’re the CEO, the next you’re the head of marketing, the tea boy, and the person trying to figure out why the printer is shouting at you. This UK Small Business Week, I want to make that juggle a little easier for the people who put their heart and soul into our rural communities.

At Escape the Village, I’m proud to offer a 10% discount on all my consultancy and coaching services for:

Whether you're a gardener, a baker, or a maker, you don't have to do it all alone. Let’s get your strategy sorted so you can get back to doing what you love (and maybe give the printer a day off).

Ever feel like you’re running a social media account first and your actual business second? We’ve all been there. You’ve got paying clients waiting, a workshop to manage, or a garden to tend to, yet that nagging voice says, "But I haven’t posted today!"

That 'post every day' pressure is the fastest route to burnout. It turns marketing into a chore rather than a way to connect. The truth is, your customers don’t need more noise: they need to see how you can help them.

At Escape the Village, we’re big fans of stepping off the hamster wheel. Instead of frantic daily posting, we focus on a 'connected marketing system.' It’s about quality over quantity and understanding the journey your customer takes from first hearing about you to finally booking your service.

Let’s trade the daily scramble for a strategy that actually works for you, not against you. You focus on being the expert in your trade, and we’ll help you build the system to show it off.

💡 Post idea - Make a repost

One of the simplest but most powerful things you can do on social media is share content created by your audience.

Whether it’s a customer photo, a tagged story, a review or someone showcasing your product or service, reposting user-generated content helps build trust, community and authenticity around your brand.

It also shows your audience that you genuinely value their support and enjoy seeing them engage with your business.

Not every post needs to be created from scratch either 👀

Reposts can help keep your content consistent whilst encouraging even more people to interact with your brand online.Sometimes the best content already exists… you just need to share it.

This week is Volunteers’ Week, and it’s a reminder of just how many charities, community groups and organisations rely on volunteers to keep going. From youth groups and sports clubs to animal rescues, veterans’ charities and local events, so much incredible work happens because people give up their own time to help others.

At Escape the Village, community has always mattered to us. Liz is an Army Cadet Force volunteer herself and, whenever possible, also volunteers to support local groups, charities and community events. Whether it’s helping behind the scenes at local shows, supporting fundraising events or giving time and skills to organisations that need an extra pair of hands, volunteering is something very close to our hearts.

One charity that will always hold a special place for Liz is Help for Heroes. Having received support herself through difficult times, she understands first-hand the difference that charities and volunteers can make when someone needs help, encouragement or simply someone to listen.

Volunteering doesn’t always have to mean huge amounts of time either. Sometimes it’s helping at an event, sharing knowledge, fundraising, making introductions, supporting a local cause online or simply showing up consistently. Small acts of support often create the biggest impact.

To every volunteer out there giving their time to support others, thank you. Your work matters more than you probably realise. 💚
