We were at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards last night as finalists for Excellence in Professional Services and while the trophy went elsewhere, we came away really glad we were there.

We spend most of our time working behind the scenes for our clients, so stepping forward as a finalist was a big deal for us. The evening was a good reminder that it's worth doing.

The conversations at our table were the highlight, the kind that stay with you the next morning. Gavin Inskip was a brilliant host, the programme ran perfectly, and the dinner was excellent.

Congratulations to all the winners and highly commended. Thank you to the Chamber for an event that felt genuinely celebratory.

We'll be back.

We've been a little quiet on here lately — but for good reason!

Behind the scenes we've been helping our clients navigate later than ever booking patterns, heatwaves, downpours, and everything in between — as well as launching new products and premises.

Last week we joined the Visitor Attractions Marketing Conference for a packed programme of insights and workshops, and we'll be sharing the key takeaways with our clients over the coming days.

The good news? Many are already doing the right things:
- Programming experiences that give people a reason to come
- A clear, compelling value proposition
- Keeping multi-generational and SEN audiences front of mind (this is not niche!)
- Ready for rain AND shine
- Embracing AI as a new gatekeeper in the research journey

With visitors now researching 4 weeks out but only committing 4–24 hours before they arrive — it really is all to play for.
More to come very soon...

📣 Content creators—we'd love to work with you!

Are you a family, lifestyle or foodie creator with 5k+ genuine followers on any or all of insta, tiktok and/or YouTube in or around Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, the Forest of Dean, Shropshire or Cornwall (we have some exciting projects there too!)?

We're looking to grow our small network of trusted local content creators—and we're keen to do it with the right people. That means:

✅ Real audiences (no bots, no loops)
✅ Thoughtful content and authentic engagement
✅ A genuine interest in championing local, independent, family-run businesses

We already work with a handful of brilliant creators across the South West, helping promote visitor attractions including farm parks, heritage railways, boutique accommodation, cafés and pubs to their followers.

This isn't about freebies—it's about building collaborative partnerships that actually work.

We share content across various platforms so if you're a creator - we'd love to hear from you.

If that sounds like a fit, message us to introduce yourself. We'll keep in touch and reach out when the right opportunity comes up.

Let's create something that supports local businesses, charities and their communities.

The businesses getting booked aren't just showing what they offer — they're showing how it feels.

And there's a difference between content that makes someone think "that looks nice" and content that makes them think "we need to go there."

In a competitive market, joy for money wins. Visitors want moments that feel worth it — and your photo and video content needs to show that.

Not just what the place looks like. Not just what happens there.

But:

✨ Tiny hands picking strawberries
✨ Faces lighting up feeding lambs
✨ Savouring homemade ice cream
✨ Friends laughing over a shared meal

When you're planning your next shoot — phone or full production — the brief starts with two questions:

1. What do you want people to feel?
2. What moment are they actually buying into?

We've written a practical step-by-step guide to help you plan a photo and video shoot that captures exactly that — and turns great content into real bookings.

We’re really excited (and a little bit proud!) to share that Marchwood Marketing has been shortlisted for our very first award… 🎉Professional Services Business of the Year at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards.

After spending the last 5+ years helping our clients consistently get shortlisted and win awards (with an 80%+ success rate 💪), we thought it was about time we put ourselves forward too.

It feels even more special given the last few years. Like most micro businesses, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster — plenty of highs and a few challenges — but 2025 was our strongest year yet in terms of growth, and we’ve learned so much along the way.

Supporting businesses with marketing leadership has always been at the heart of what we do.
We’re not always great at stopping to celebrate our own business, so being shortlisted already feels like a big win, whatever happens next.

A huge thank you to all the brilliant businesses who trust us to guide their marketing — whether that’s mentoring junior staff, covering maternity leaves, planning campaigns, or helping you work smarter with digital and AI. We genuinely love being part of your journey.

It's English Tourism Week so apt that today we're at the British Tourism & Travel Show, meeting DMCs and tour operators who play a key role in bringing group travel and new audiences to destinations across the UK.

These conversations matter. They spark ideas, open doors to new partnerships, and highlight opportunities our clients can tap into—whether that’s product development, packaging experiences, or reaching entirely new markets.

A big part of what we do at Marchwood is joining the dots—connecting our clients with the right people, platforms and opportunities to help their businesses grow.

We’ll be sharing insights, trends and opportunities from the show with our clients over the coming days.

If you’re a tourism business wondering how to make the most of partnerships like these, let’s have a chat.

Today on International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the brilliant women we’re lucky to work with across the businesses we support.

From founders and leaders to the talented people behind the scenes including photographers, farmers, designers, marketers, ops managers and even train drivers — women also play a huge role in shaping thriving businesses and memorable visitor experiences.

At Marchwood Marketing we’re also proud to support the next generation of women in marketing, mentoring digital apprentices and helping them build real skills and confidence early in their careers.

Laura and I are also reflecting today on our own journey — now over five years of Marchwood Marketing — and feeling grateful for the inspiring network of people we get to work with every day.

So… we went to jail.

And a heritage steam railway. And one of Cornwall’s most impressive historic houses.

Laura and I spent most of the day yesterday with the team at Bodmin Railway — a heritage steam railway running through the heart of the county, offering a programme of seasonal events and immersive experiences alongside its classic line journeys. As a registered charity, every decision around time, resource and spend needs to work especially hard.

Our conversations were grounded and practical:

*A clear, honest look at event performance and what’s really driving results
*Exploring ways to improve profitability without losing what makes the experience special
*Sharing informal, hands-on AI training to help a small team reduce repetitive admin and free up time for the work that really matters

We were also hosted by teams at Lanhydrock National Trust and Bodmin Jail & Hotel, talking through shared challenges, overlapping audiences and how closer collaboration can strengthen the visitor offer — for both local communities and visitors to Cornwall.

The Jail Hotel and visitor experience were particularly memorable — a thoughtful and ambitious reimagining of a historic site with spectacular results.

Days like this reflect what we do at Marchwood Marketing: helping visitor attractions step back, connect the dots and make their marketing budgets work harder through joined-up strategy, creativity and collaboration.

If you’re running an attraction with a small team, ambitious plans and limited headspace — and are wondering how to make more of what you already have — this is exactly the kind of work we love to do.

With thanks to the teams at Lanhydrock and Bodmin Jail & Hotel for hosting us and for such open, generous conversations. We’re really looking forward to what comes next.

Is January still going…? Because it definitely feels like day 400.

We love the fresh-start energy that January brings, but last week was a reminder of just how much can be achieved when there’s space to step back, reflect and plan properly (and we’re definitely not done yet).

It was full-on — but in the best possible way:

✔️Our first (informal) AI training session for a client
Focused on practical, real-world use — not just in marketing, but across departments — helping teams understand how AI can support their business without adding complexity or overwhelm.

✔️Exhibiting and networking at the Visit Worcestershire Tourism Conference & Exhibition – Beyond the Billion
A valuable opportunity to connect with tourism businesses and partners, explore what’s next for the visitor economy, and bring fresh insight back into client strategies.

✔️2026 planning sessions with clients
January offers a rare breathing space — particularly for tourism and hospitality businesses that spend much of the year in delivery mode. These sessions focused on reflecting on what worked, what didn’t, and adjusting plans now so 2026 feels considered, realistic and flexible.

✔️A (top secret 👀) event launch project meeting
Early-stage planning and strong foundations being quietly put in place behind the scenes. More on this one soon…

✔️Website briefing meetings
Turning client objectives into clear digital briefs and exploring the right delivery partners to support long-term growth.

✔️Visit Herefordshire networking at a private screening of Hamnet
A great opportunity to reconnect with local tourism businesses, share ideas and strengthen relationships — with an interesting lens on the growing “set-jetting” trend.

✔️Campaign planning, content calendars and deep lead-generation research
Turning insight into action, particularly around audience profiling and targeting for a manufacturing client.

✔️And a new client discovery meeting
Always a highlight — listening first, asking the right questions and exploring how we can add value.

A week of planning, learning, connecting — and then doing.
Exactly how we like it.

If January is your brief window to review what worked last season, rethink your marketing or quietly explore where AI might actually help (without adding more to your plate), you’re very much not alone.

And yes — we’ll need that coffee to go please ☕️
