Stop chasing vanity metrics. A 10,000 follower count won't pay the bills. ❌

It is easy to get caught up trying to go "viral," but broad audience numbers create feed clutter, not clients. To convert attention into revenue, look at the actual data:

🔹 Platform payouts are broken: TikTok and Instagram Reels creator funds pay a fraction of a penny per view. Unless a brand hits millions of views daily, it will not sustain operations.

🔹 Niche targeting is a superpower: A small, hyper-focused network yields massive engagement. Brands will pay up to £150 per post to tap into a trusted nano-community under 10k followers.

🔹 High-value paths scale faster: Transitioning expertise into paid webinars or small digital downloads brings in £400 to £2,500/month for mid-tier specialist voices.

A successful social strategy relies on intention, not headcount. Switch the focus from broad reach to intentional relationship marketing.

What a brilliant day at the GM Creative Industries Exchange at New Century Hall, Manchester

A huge thank you to GM Business Growth Hub, The Growth Company and Greater Manchester Combined Authority for creating such a useful space for Greater Manchester’s creative community to connect, share ideas and talk seriously about the future of the sector.

It was energising to be in a room with people working across so many different areas of creativity — from art, design, digital, interiors and fashion to culture, education, retail, music, film, tech and place-based projects.

For me, it was the perfect environment to talk about the two sides of what I’m building:

Elumin — supporting creative businesses, artists and independent brands with websites, technical SEO, branding and digital strategy.

Elluse — my art-led interiors and product brand, exploring how fine art, surface pattern, upcycling, fashion and interiors can connect in a more original way.

What stood out most was how much potential there is when different creative sectors stop sitting in separate boxes. Art, design, craft, digital, culture and business are stronger when they overlap.

I’d love to connect with more people across:

Artists
Makers
Creative founders
Interior designers
Independent retailers
Galleries and cultural organisations
Upcyclers and sustainable design businesses

People working across art, design, digital, fashion, interiors and creative placemaking

If we crossed paths yesterday — or if your work sits somewhere in that creative overlap — I’d love to connect.

The AI box is open.

You can fight the lid, or we can learn to use what’s inside.

Watching Grayson Perry’s latest series on Channel 4, the message is clear: the tool isn’t the problem—human greed and politics are.

There is a misconception that "AI" is one single, unethical brain. In reality, AI is simply an engine used to synthesize information from many separate and different databases. As working people, our power lies in which "door" we choose to open.

The distinction between Ethical and Unethical is in the source:

❌ The "Open Web" (Unethical/High Risk):
Generic, free-to-use Text and Image engines often rely on unauthorized scraping of the open internet. They repurpose stolen art and private data without consent to train their models. This creates "AI Slop"—unreliable, legally vulnerable, and ethically bankrupt.

✅ The "Closed-Door" (Ethical/Professional):
We have the choice to use Enterprise-grade tools that respect human effort through Zero-Retention models. This usually requires a paid subscription, but it ensures your data remains your property.

For Visuals: Using engines like Adobe Firefly, trained ONLY on licensed stock and public domain images. It’s commercially safe and respects copyright.

For Strategy & Text: Using Paid/Enterprise versions of tools like ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, or Grammarly. Unlike the free versions, these versions ensure your data is never stored in public databases or used to "train" the engine for others. Paid = Protected.

Why "Radical Honesty" is our survival strategy for 2026:

Search Engines have evolved into Entity-Based systems. They act as digital private eyes, cross-referencing your website claims against your LinkedIn, customer reviews, and Companies House filings. If your digital footprint is inconsistent, your visibility vanishes.

Radical Honesty is the only "SEO" that AI cannot bypass. By choosing ethical, paid tools and being transparent about our human-led process, we ensure our businesses are recognised as trusted, authentic entities.

Don't let snobbery or fear dictate your future. AI is a tool for the working person to stay competitive—as long as we are fussy about which database we plug into.

Are you paying a “Ghosting Tax” without realizing it? 👻💸

Switching website developers shouldn’t feel like playing detective. When you end a relationship without a professional technical handover, you aren’t just losing a contact—you’re losing the manual for your business’s custom-built engine.

Without a “blueprint,” your next expert has to work in the dark. This leads to the Investigation Bill: where a simple 20-minute update turns into a 5-hour untangling of someone else’s “secret recipe.”

The Reality:

A professional handover is your digital survey. To protect your investment, ensure your next exit strategy includes:

✅ SEO Roadmap: Protect your “Golden” ranking pages.
✅ Technical Logic: Where does the custom code actually live?
✅ Brand Vocabulary: Keep your niche industry language consistent.
✅ Function Trapdoors: Document the commands that keep the site alive.

The Conclusion:

Documentation isn’t a luxury—it’s a cost-saving asset that ensures your brand’s story continues without a billable interruption.

When university theory meets a Manchester bar: Exploring the "Quiet Rebellion" at Chorlton Arts Festival 2026.

I’m thrilled to announce my first public installation, "Quiet Rebellion," is coming to Dulcimer Bar for this year's Chorlton Arts Festival (9th–17th May).

This project is a full-circle moment for me. It takes an idea I first explored during my Fine Art degree—the collision of urban culture and digital language—and brings it into a real-world setting.

🎨 What to expect:

The display is a sensory mix of my three creative worlds:

- The Artist (Elluse.co.uk): An original oil painting exploring urban identity.
- The Designer (Elluse.biz): Bold, bespoke surface patterns that transform the physical space.
- The Strategist (Elumin.co.uk): A focus on "Interactive Branding." I’m inviting every visitor to join the conversation by answering one question in our community notebook: Where do you feel most free?

💼 Why this matters for business:

Whether I’m building a high-converting WordPress site at Elumin.co.uk or designing a custom mural for a commercial space at Elluse.biz, my goal is the same: to make people stop and feel something.

This installation is a living case study in how bold visuals and thoughtful interaction can transform a standard environment into a memorable brand experience.

Website cookies + tracking pixels can help bring visitors back again and again (without you posting 24/7).

A quick, plain-English explainer of cookies, pixels, and retargeting — and where your ads can show up after someone leaves your site.

Post text:
🍪 What is a cookie?
A tiny file saved on a visitor’s device when they use your website.

📍 Where is this set up?
You install a pixel/tag from:
• Meta (Facebook/Instagram)
• Google Ads / Google tag
• TikTok Pixel
• Pinterest tag
• LinkedIn Insight tag
• AdRoll pixel

🔥 What happens when someone visits your site?
That cookie helps trigger a tracking tag (often called a pixel).

👀 After they leave your website…
They don’t disappear. They may start seeing your brand again while scrolling socials, reading news, or searching Google.
That’s retargeting.

📣 Retargeting can show up on:
• Instagram/Facebook
• TikTok
• YouTube
• Google Search
• Other websites (display ads)

➡️ Where can retargeting send people?
A) Your website product page (most common)
B) An in-app shop (Meta Shop / TikTok Shop)
It depends on your checkout + tracking setup.

✅ Want to bring visitors back without posting 24/7?
Start with: Pixel + product feed + a strong offer (and a simple retargeting ad).

People don’t study your brand. They scan it.

If someone’s thinking about hiring you business-to-business, they’ll check your Instagram and your website for a few seconds and decide: “Do I trust this person?”

That’s why content quality, brand consistency, and a clear brand identity matter more than pumping out rushed posts.

Reach, likes and follower count can help… but they’re not the full picture. A messy grid, inconsistent visuals, sloppy spelling, or vague messaging reads as unreliable — even if you’re great at what you do.

The goal is to look like a professional partner: calm, clear, and detail-led.
Whether you’re a coach, consultant, or a Freelance Website Designer Manchester, your feed is your shop window.

Take the extra time. Make it feel considered. Make it feel hireable.

Case study: building my art brand, ELLUSE.

I’m an artist and a marketer/WordPress developer — and I’m not using those skills only to support other artists and makers. I built my own art-led brand with them too. ELLUSE is the proof: fine art first, backed by a proper brand and website foundation.

ELLUSE is my way of keeping my fine art roots intact while being unapologetic about needing to earn money (working-class reality). I don’t play the art world “rules” 100%. I keep the craft and the standards — and I still do what actually supports my life and future.

Here’s what you’re seeing in the slides:
• A clear brand statement + visual identity (logo, tone, and the “Urban. Edgy. Unapologetically Independent.” positioning).
• A niche with personality: subtle rebellion, not performative loudness. For people who don’t need to shout to make a point.
• A proper website presence: because social platforms change, but a WordPress site anchors the brand and makes it searchable.
• Fine art as the foundation: canvases, exhibitions, real physical work — not just “content”.
• Digital skills used as an advantage: repeat patterns, mock-ups, product design, and strong presentation. A lot of artists don’t have those tools — I do, so I used them.
• Commercial outputs without selling my soul: wearable art, accessories, and products that carry the same identity as the paintings — one pool of creation, not two separate lives.

Also: “Elluse” is a unique name, which matters. It’s easier to own your corner of the internet when you’re not fighting a thousand similar results.

If you’re an artist or maker who’s tired of being told you have to choose between “serious art” and making money — I’m on your side. I’ll keep sharing how I build creative brands that look intentional and get found.
