All week I'm going to give you some great examples of how is used by some of biggest global brands to connect with their audiences. I'll also hopefully give you some insight into how you can use it for your own
First up is and particularly which is an amazing off-shoot of the main Netflix brand. Its aim is to showcase some of the incredible Black talent and content that Netflix has on its platform. It was started by a group of Black staffers at Netflix who wanted to change the conversation in the company, and prioritise talking directly to their Black audience in a way that few brands had ever done before.
SBL changed the game:
- massive followings across social media
- huge influence internally at Netflix (the business now creates content specifically for the SBL editorial strand)
- a spin-off podcast - "Okay, Now Listen"
- spin-off strategy (creating to promote black photographers)
You may not have Netflix's reach but what are the lessons that we can all learn?
- look for gaps in your market that your business can fill with relevant content
- know and understand your audience
- speak their language
- build a community that people can feel part of
