“You will have your audience eating out of your hands if you don’t just tell them facts, but make it interesting with stories and humour.”- Barbara Walters

🌟 I love this quote because it captures something I believe deeply: facts inform, but stories connect.

Whether I’m hosting an awards ceremony, chairing a panel discussion, or delivering a keynote, my focus is always the same — to engage the room, create energy, and leave people with something they remember long after the event ends. Because the best presentations don’t just run smoothly. They make people feel involved, inspired, and part of something bigger.

🖱️ If you’re looking for an event host this autumn, or a speaker to bring energy, insight, and storytelling to your conference, I’d love to hear from you. [email protected]

“It was my ex-husband who told me to write a book. You should read the chapter I wrote about him — it was f**king genius!”

Sometimes the best on-stage moments are the ones you simply cannot script.

Indulge me in a quick look back at one of my favourite events: Off the Cobbles at The Lowry Hotel, organised by the Variety Vixens in aid of Variety the Childrens Charity.

I had the joy of interviewing Cath Tyldesley and Sue Cleaver live on stage, and what followed was exactly what I love most about great events: honest conversation, brilliant stories, sharp humour, and a room full of people completely engaged in the moment.

We talked about our books, anxieties, Corrie memories, fears, fun, friendship, and all the unpredictable moments that make live interviews so special.

The room was packed, but it felt intimate — like sharing war stories with a hundred friends. That is the magic of the right guests, the right audience, and a conversation that is allowed to breathe.

If you are looking for an interviewer, debate host, or event host who can bring warmth, energy, humour, and genuine connection to the stage, you can find out more here: www.liz-taylor-consulting.co.uk/index.php/interviewer-debate-host

✨ What can Marilyn Monroe teach us about business?
Quite a lot, as it happens.

I have a picture of Marilyn Monroe in my home, and it often reminds me of one of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt throughout my career: the brands we remember are the ones that make us feel something. Marilyn understood the power of a distinctive identity. She knew how to tell a story, embrace what made her different and reinvent herself - all the while, remaining unmistakably Marilyn.

There are some valuable lessons in that for any business:
✨ Know what makes you different
✨ Create an emotional connection
✨ Tell a story people can connect with
✨ Stay true to your values
✨ Don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself

After more than 35 years in events and hospitality, I’ve reinvented my own career many times... from event organiser to consultant, speaker, mentor, author and podcast host. And I don’t think this means losing sight of who you are. I think it means becoming more of yourself.

What will people remember about your business when you’re not in the room? Read the full blog via the link in my bio / https://www.liz-taylor-consulting.co.uk/index.php/2026/08/04/business-lessons-from-marilyn-monroe-what-her-brand-teaches-entrepreneurs/

🛋️ Creativity doesn’t always happen at your desk!

Sometimes the best ideas come when you slow down, step away from the to-do list and give your mind the space to wander. Whether that’s flicking through a magazine, taking a walk, visiting an exhibition or simply enjoying a quiet moment at home, I always find inspiration strikes when you’re not actively searching for it.

In an industry that’s constantly moving, making time to recharge isn’t just good for wellbeing... it’s an important part of staying creative, avoiding burnout and continuing to bring fresh thinking to every project.

So, as it’s , here’s your reminder that stepping back can often be the first step towards moving forward 💛

Extreme weather is no longer something event planners can treat as an afterthought.

From rising temperatures to changing guest expectations, climate resilience is becoming an essential part of the planning process.

I recently spoke to M&IT Magazine about why conversations around weather now begin at the very first client meeting, and why great event planning isn’t about reacting to challenges... it’s about planning ahead for them.

Great hospitality starts with great questions, so before thinking about venues, menus, design or production, the most important part of any experience is understanding the people at the heart of it...

WHO are you creating this experience for?
HOW do you want them to feel?
And WHAT story are you trying to tell?

For me, exceptional hospitality has always been about creating moments where people feel welcomed, valued and genuinely looked after.

But what does great hospitality mean to you - is it the little details, the atmosphere, the service — or something else?

💚 A little colour, a little confidence, and a reminder that style only gets better with time!

Inspired by the legendary Iris Apfel, I loved stepping in front of the camera with NEVS ... to celebrate individuality, creativity and the joy of expressing who you are.

THE HONEST VERSION 🎤
One of the things I enjoy most about speaking engagements is the conversations afterwards. The people who tell me they're navigating a difficult decision, or launching something new. Perhaps they’re starting over, or growing faster than they expected.

Or maybe they’re just wondering if they're capable of taking the next step.

Speaking at the Pink Link Ladies event, I shared some of the real stories behind my journey in business... the successes, certainly, but also the uncertainty, reinvention, resilience and occasional white-knuckle moments.

Because building something that lasts isn't about getting everything right; it's about continuing when things don't go exactly to plan.

Thank you to everyone who came along - and I look forward to seeing some of you at my upcoming speaking engagements this summer!
