🎶 Back again like a networking master 🎶 CONNECT AT THE SOCIAL RETURNS !!

Our media networking event returns this July! This time, we’re bringing the buzz to Italian-influenced wine bar, Federico.

❓What is Connect At The Social?

When was the last time you were able to sit down and chat with peers from your industry, without feeling like there’s a hidden agenda?
How many people have you spoken to for years over email, but never met in person?

Connect at the Social is a new kind of networking event designed to put the ~social~ element back into the industry, and redesign what media relationships look like in Manchester.

It’s casual, candid and honestly just a lot of fun.

⏰ When is it?

Our next event is taking place on Wednesday 1st July – from 5-7.30pm – at Federico Manchester (📍50 Pall Mall, Manchester M2 1AQ – just round the corner from John Rylands Library).

🔎 Who is it for?

Journalists, media figures, influencer specialists and fellow PRs.

Need a +1? Say no more! Just drop us a message of who’d you like to bring with you. (No selling though please…)

👀 What’s in it for me?

You’ll get to meet the very best of the city’s media and PR scene, and connect with a curated mix of media voices, industry professionals and influencer agencies.

We’ll have canapés available, as well as goodie bags with gifted items from some of our favourite brands. (Who doesn’t love a freebie??)

💌 How do I register my interest?

RSVP to [email protected] – or tag someone below who you think should be there 💚

Agency life is BUSY. Sometimes, you’re so bogged down in the day-to-day, there’s not enough room to think creatively.

So we’ve started carving out one day a month to do just that.

No calls. No distractions. One focus: creative marketing.

Days like this a fab for a multitude of reasons:

→ They help us come up with fun campaign ideas for our clients.

→ They generate a nice chunky backlog of content to use on our channels.

→ It breaks us out of our echo chambers and encourages us to think outside of the box.

→ And it boosts team morale.

It also reminds us why we entered the industry in the first place: because it’s fun.

Here’s a sneaky peek of what we got up to yesterday…

(Bonus point for anyone who can guess why Daisy reacted like that in the first pic…)

WANTED: Hospitality leaders shaping the next wave of QSR and casual dining 🍽️ 👀

We’re launching a “breakfast-inspired investigation” into what fuels the UK’s most exciting QSR and casual dining brands – and we want to hear from the people helping those brands stay front of mind.

Are you a hospitality founder or marketing lead who…

→ knows exactly what their brand stands for?
→ cares about the experience as much as the food?
→ has strong opinions on what’s changing in QSR and the casual dining space?

If yes, we want to interview you.

Gwon. Get in touch. There’s a free brekky in it for you. 🍳

And the CHEERY HOE award goes to… 👑 Charlotte Hancock

💭 WTF is a ‘cheery hoe’?!

The Cheery Hoe award is the DATS way of recognising a member of the team for going above and beyond – not just for clients, but for coworkers too.

Charl is our Senior Account Exec and PR aficionado. She knows exactly who to contact to get our clients in the news (and how to get them to respond). Since joining us this year, Charl has been a (media) force to be reckoned with, and has smashed coverage targets for three of our biggest clients – including pieces in the BBC, MEN and broadcast media.

🌸 Fun fact about Charl: she’s an avid collector of vintage toys, and is consistently the best dressed in the office.

We love ya Charl! 💚

BREAKING NEWS: PRs and journalists might actually like each other again...

→ Last night, 50+ media folk gathered at for a night of networking, nibbles and no set agenda (other than “be nice”.)

It was genuinely a fantastic event from start to finish.

We had free pizza, goodie bags, a designated selfie station, and some very peculiar conversations in the girl’s loo. 👀

Huge thank you to everyone who came along, and to all the wonderful brands who kindly gifted us some treats for our goodie bags:

💚 💚 💚 💚 .plus 💚 💚 💚

And a massive cheers to our event partners, (Tara Heppell) and (Carla Speight) for helping us make this happen. 💚

Keep your eyes peeled for deets on our next one… 🍌

JW Lees in Bloom 🌼 The Summer of Boddies has landed in Manchester – and so have the bees.

ICYMI: has launched a summer-long campaign welcoming the return of .

To mark the occasion, the team has developed a Boddies-infused menu – including a Boddingtons-glazed short rib plates, a cheese toastie with Boddies pickle, and even a “D’ya Wanna Flake In That Love?” cocktail.

And to make sure everyone in town knew about it…

Last week, the pub was transformed into a bumblebee’s paradise by Cheshire-based artist, 🌻

Handcrafted sunflowers fill the pub from front to back, adopting a yellow and black theme to match the Boddies branding. And who could miss the masterful centrepiece: a giant, ten-foot sunflower?

💬 Neil, Owner at The Black Friar, said: “The Black Friar and Boddingtons go back further than most people realise…”

“This pub was built for Boddingtons’ workers, so when the cask came back, there was only one place it truly belonged. The Summer of Boddies is our way of celebrating that in proper Black Friar style, from Boddingtons specials in the kitchen, to Kelly’s installation outside.”

The stats 📝

> 13 pieces of content
> 5K+ engagements
> 7M reach in total

Sweet, sweet nectar for sure.

Who knew forced fun could actually be… fun?

Last week, we blocked out the full day for an internal marketing workshop.

We filmed.
We LinkedIn-ed.
And we came up with hundreds of marketing ideas for our clients (and our own channels.

A day well spent tbh!

“It’s not hard to imagine the Italian community that first settled in Ancoats more than a century ago nodding in approval at the pastas and fritti, even as the kitchen gives them a modern spin.”

Imagine opening the Independent on a typical Friday morning and seeing THIS stellar review of your client. 🤩

“In the heart of Manchester’s Little Italy, Bruco is rewriting the rules of small plates dining.” writes Bethan Kapur.

“Bruco provides exactly the sort of simple, yet indulgent energy I crave in my Italian food, but it’s far from basic… They’re banquets in disguise. Order multiple, King-like dishes if you dare. Which... we did. If you’ve ever found yourself let down by small plates dining that piles up the bill without filling you up, Bruco is the antidote.”

(She’s not lying…)

“Like its owner, Ethan, the whole place feels youthful and bright-eyed. With seasonal dishes already rotating in and out, it’s the sort of restaurant you return to, eager to see what’s changed and what surprises are waiting next. I know I am.”

Great coverage like this doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of consistent storytelling, the right relationships, and a brand worth shouting about.

More of this energy in Q4, please 👏

Give the gift of authentic content 🎁

Gifted influencer campaigns are a cost-effective way for brands to generate authentic exposure and build brand awareness. This strategy often results in more genuine and relatable content, which audiences tend to trust more than polished ads!

Here’s a few reasons why you should consider a gifted influencer campaign 👇

👉 Cost-effective exposure: Gifted influencer campaigns allow you to generate organic content and reach new audiences without the high costs associated with paid partnerships.

👉 Authentic engagement: Influencers often create more genuine and relatable content when they voluntarily share gifted products, which builds trust with their followers.

👉 Targeted reach: By selecting influencers who align with your niche or audience, you can ensure your message reaches the right consumers more effectively.

👉 Content amplification: These campaigns produce user-generated content that can be repurposed across brand channels, enhancing credibility and strengthening overall PR efforts
