I Love Manchester

I Love Manchester The community-driven city brand and iconic symbol of civic pride championing Manchester by spotlighting people, projects and promotions. Manchester.

I Love MCR is an independent organisation which was launched in reaction to the infamous riots in Manchester (and Salford) during the summer of 2011. A catalyst to rise against anti-social behaviour, harness the energy of people who care and unite our unconditional love of the city. Out of the carnage came creativity. It all began with a social media and an outdoor media campaign, which galvanised

an incorruptible symbol of civic pride and unity. This resilience created a platform for people who love Manchester used to promote the city we love. We’re as Manchester as it gets. A small band of incorruptible, like-minded individuals who are Manchester-born & Manchester-bred and who share the same passion; affection for our city. We are cool, cultured, cosmopolitan – just like Manchester. We love Manchester and we hope you do, too. Our heart’s in the right place.

Broadway is coming to Manchester!

The Tony Award-nominated musical comedy Something Rotten! is making its UK premiere at the Opera House Manchester, and we got a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals.

Manchester’s home grown talent Jason Manford and Richard Fleeshman star as Nick Bottom and William Shakespeare in the Elizabethan comedy about two struggling playwright brothers determined to outshine The Bard. The result? The world’s very first musical… or so they think!

Our Arts and Culture Correspondent Michelle Eagleton caught up with the pair alongside director Tim Jackson to find out all about it.

Packed with show-stopping numbers, big laughs and plenty of theatrical chaos, Something Rotten! has been a huge hit on Broadway — and now Manchester audiences will be the first in the UK to see it.

Take a sneak peek inside the rehearsal room and get ready for one of the funniest musicals of the year.

Something Rotten runs at the Opera House from June 16th - 19th July.
