LURY, Hastings
A year after opening, and Lury still feels like one of the most special tables on the south coast

🍽️ Opened by husband-and-wife duo Jack Lury and Issy Cianchi, this 10-seat restaurant inside a converted townhouse in Hastings New Town offers a single 7pm sitting each evening (Thur-Sat) with Jack running the kitchen solo

Jack’s multi-course menu is deeply personal, shaped by his British and Sri Lankan heritage and inspired by his family’s Burgher roots. Expect a regularly changing line-up of thoughtful, produce-led dishes, with subtle Sri Lankan touches such as:

🍄‍🟫Lion’s Mane,Mushroom Broth with Curry leaf oil; Milk bun stuff with black pork curry &
cardamon butter
🍳Confit egg yolk, seeni sambol, oyster mushrooms & lime foam;
🐟Poached Halibut, spiced fondant potato, asparagus sauce & crushed cashew pesto,

🖼️ Issy’s design brings it all together, creating a calm, intimate space that feels more like stepping into someone’s home than a restaurant, complete with Sri Lankan textiles and a rotating artist-in-residence

🥃 A tight wine list, an excellent Arrack Old Fashioned, and just ten seats make this one worth planning for

From Dorset to the Dordogne 🇫🇷🌿

Chef brings her nature-led cooking to rural France this summer as she takes over La Closerie de la Beyne - a 40-cover restaurant set within a restored barn on a 13-hectare estate in the Périgord countryside, close to the town of Bergerac

The opportunity follows a chance meeting with the estate owner during a recent trip to France while developing her soon to launch skincare range FENN, when she was offered the chance to take over the La Closerie de la Beyne, and make it her own for the summer

🍒 🌿 🍽️ Surrounded by orchards, woodland and rolling valleys, the restaurant draws on its setting — from summer truffles and walnuts to figs, cherries and herbs grown on the estate itself. Expect seasonal, fire-led dishes shaped by Harriet’s foraging and wild foods background, alongside wines from nearby Bergerac and Monbazillac

☀️ With gîtes, a pool, and long, al fresco lunches it’s a true Dordogne escape rooted in landscape, produce and a slower pace of life

Opening 15 May through to October
