LURY, Hastings
A year after opening, and Lury still feels like one of the most special tables on the south coast
🍽️ Opened by husband-and-wife duo Jack Lury and Issy Cianchi, this 10-seat restaurant inside a converted townhouse in Hastings New Town offers a single 7pm sitting each evening (Thur-Sat) with Jack running the kitchen solo
Jack’s multi-course menu is deeply personal, shaped by his British and Sri Lankan heritage and inspired by his family’s Burgher roots. Expect a regularly changing line-up of thoughtful, produce-led dishes, with subtle Sri Lankan touches such as:
🍄🟫Lion’s Mane,Mushroom Broth with Curry leaf oil; Milk bun stuff with black pork curry &
cardamon butter
🍳Confit egg yolk, seeni sambol, oyster mushrooms & lime foam;
🐟Poached Halibut, spiced fondant potato, asparagus sauce & crushed cashew pesto,
🖼️ Issy’s design brings it all together, creating a calm, intimate space that feels more like stepping into someone’s home than a restaurant, complete with Sri Lankan textiles and a rotating artist-in-residence
🥃 A tight wine list, an excellent Arrack Old Fashioned, and just ten seats make this one worth planning for
