Eight years ago I went self employed.

As predicted with my seventh, I made my eighth year. Whilst my seventh year was largely rebuilding, I am relatively happy with where I am.

The fear of not exactly knowing where your next paycheck comes from doesn't leave, but I checked the books and this year was near enough to my best year two years ago, but what is nice is that I have a broader range of clients and services that I offer. Very much transitioned from a WordPress developer to a general webmaster.

Thank you to all my clients and anybody who considers me for work. I have time from about mid September if you want somebody to come in and offers no BS to your setup. I can't promise I will agree with you as much as ChatGPT does, but I tend to get the right result 😊

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to Naples.

WordPress 7.1, entitled "Mary Lou", was released overnight. It contained a lot of new features and a couple of styling elements, as well as a few accessibility improvements. In my latest blog post, I detail what's changed and what's new. You also get a couple of new blocks!

Once again, I'm happy to announce that I'm sponsoring Colwyn Bay Football Club for the 2026/27 season.

Last season saw our best ever finish in the Welsh leagues. Hopefully we'll see a push for Europe.

As part of the work, I got a brand new board which I hope to get a better photo of soon - thanks to typeface for the design!

Just over a week ago I attended WordCamp Europe 2026, the largest European conference for WordPress, which took place in Krakow.

It's no secret that the community has been a bit low the past few years, but it felt like it was a real return to form for the largest piece of software that runs on the internet, with some interesting discussions and some real progress in key areas coming out of the event.

Krakow was a great place to go to, but what were my thoughts on the conference? Here is my thoughts on the event. Link in the bio.

At for the day. Lost count of what number WordCamp Europe I have attended.

Hope to see you there. Will gladly chat about WordPress, retro games, or Ollie Robinson's first over against New Zealand yesterday.

WordPress 7.0 - Codenamed "Armstrong" - was released late last night. This version had a bunch of changes and is quite sizable. Revisions, a new admin interface, better block control, fonts and yes ... AI.

Probably the most significant release for ages, WordPress 7.0 lays the foundation for the next phase of WordPress. Read what's new in my latest blog post. Link in Bio.
