I know it sounds a little ironic, but I’m going to use Instagram as a way to document my progress and keep myself accountable. ✨

I watch hundreds of drawing, sewing, painting and embroidery videos every day… and yet somehow it’s been about six months since I last had all my pens and pencils out. 😂

There’s always an excuse, isn’t there?

So today I decided to do some blooming creating just for fun — not for my business, not because I should, just because I wanted to.

I set myself a little challenge: a 45-minute warm-up doodle, followed by a 15-minute loose drawing. It’s been so long that I wanted to keep it colourful and, finally, make use of this sketchbook a lovely friend gave me a couple of years ago… which has been sitting there untouched ever since. 🙈

Anyone else get the fear of the blank page? 😬

So this is Day One. I’m going to try to do something creative each day and document it here in some form.

BUT… I’m also not putting too much pressure on myself because I am absolutely rubbish at daily challenges. 😂

So… see you for Day Two.

🌿 Taking a Short Break at Stitch HQ 🌿
Just a little update to let you know that I'll be taking a short break from 4th–15th July.

During this time, there will be a pause on physical orders, made-to-order embroidery pieces, and email replies while I take some time to rest, recharge, and gather fresh inspiration.

✨ Good news! My digital PDF embroidery and Bargello needlepoint patterns will still be available for instant download from both my website and Etsy shop, so you can continue stitching throughout my break.

Any physical orders placed during this time will be carefully prepared and dispatched once I return, and I'll respond to all emails as soon as possible after 15th July.

Thank you so much for supporting my small business and allowing me the time to step away for a little while. I can't wait to come back refreshed and ready to create more colourful embroidery and needlepoint designs for you.

✨ May Highlights ✨
May has been a month of settling into new routines and finally enjoying some beautiful sunshine.

Balancing my embroidery practice alongside my healthcare work has been incredibly fulfilling, especially after experiencing creative burnout at the start of the year. It feels wonderful to be finding my creative rhythm again.

Thread Sheeran has been working hard too, with wedding season in full swing and plenty of personalised pieces and commissions keeping the machine busy.

One of the highlights of the month was preparing and delivering a talk for the about my creative journey. Reflecting on how far I've come reminded me just how much embroidery has supported me through some challenging times and how important creativity continues to be in my life.

Finally, we welcomed to our at Great Northern Warehouse as part of the . We're excited to have some workshops coming up soon, so keep an eye out for those!

💚💜💙 Happy International Nurses Day 💙💜💚

Little life update:
After a break from hospital life, I’ve found myself back in healthcare again — now working for collecting stem cells and also freelancing teaching first aid with .

It turns out I’ve found the perfect hybrid… balancing two kinds of needles: embroidery and phlebotomy (in turquoise scrubs) 💉🪡

Don’t worry — embroidery is still here to stay. Commissions, kits and collaborations are very much still ongoing, but running a small business solo can be quite tricky, and I missed healthcare more than I realised.

I think nursing rewires a part of you. Even after stepping away, the care, connection and purpose never really leave. The break was something I truly needed, but coming back into the NHS in a different way now feels really good — with a healthier balance, a creative career I love, and a renewed appreciation for both paths.

To all nurses and healthcare staff today — thank you for everything you do 💙
