Its variable x-height offers exceptional flexibility: opt for a short x-height to evoke a vintage feel, a medium x-height for body text, or a tall x-height for striking titles and headlines. It has been a week since the long Christmas break hibernation. Before the new year turns its first pages, it’s a good time to reflect on what 2025 was like. It was a year filled with Type design, branding, packaging, lettering, awards and features. While it was tough, but also rewarding and enriching. Thank you so much to both new and regular clients for their trust and support, as well as the suppliers and other collaborators who made many of these projects possible. Hopefully, 2026 will be another challenging but exciting year.

I’m thrilled to announce the release of the 29LT Azahar Specimen today. Designed by Undo & Redo and printed by Pressision, this A5 booklet showcases all Azahar styles in both, Latin and Cyrillic across diverse layouts. Inspired by the font’s name, it features botanical watercolour illustrations from some of the most renowned Victorian artists over a fine selection of GF Smith papers. Visual transparencies, graphic overlaps and variation in the size format bring this specimen to life, and in turn emphasise Azahar’s adaptability to different graphic environments..

I am thrilled and honoured that 29LT Azahar has been awarded in the TDC71 competition with the Certificate of Typographic Excellence.

🥳🥳🥳 Congratulations to the entire team involved in the project for their outstanding work. My gratitude to and its founder, Pascal Zoghbi, for the opportunity given, and special thanks too to for her advice, guidance and her exceptional work on the Cyrillic design, as well as to for her fine work on the Arabic.

29LT Azahar Text and Display will be included in the infamous Annual of the Type Directors Club, The World’s Best Typography®️, Typography 46 and will also be shown at the 71st Awards Exhibition (TDC71) in eight globally-touring exhibitions, which will tour across dozens of cities in the United States, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan.

It’s nice everynow and then to have a break from the digital world and get your hands stained with colours, and feel the texture of papers, brushes and pencils. Yes! I also do Illustration when the occasion requieres it, and this week was such the occasion. I’m working at the moment on a range of oil packagings and these are the watercolour images that will illustrate the labels. I like them so far, although some of them are still work in progress.

29LT Azahar is a published last summer.

The text style is a reader-friendly reinterpretation of medium-contrast transitional letterforms, as opposed to the tension of the high-contrast Didone style of its display counterpart. Likewise, the sharp and flared serifs of the latter add a modern twist that makes it optimal for daring headlines. Graceful and fragile in its lightest form and brave and appealing in the darkest one.
