Last Wednesday I was fortunate enough to guide WICL Manchester through a feminine, water-inspired yoga flow for their January wellness event. Some were new to yoga, others rusty or returning to the practice after a while - and the energy in the room was amazing!
It was inspiring to meet this incredible group of women, who were so kind and gave such lovely feedback. This vocation requires a special kind of strength, determination and resilience, and it was such a pleasure to help them carve out some much-needed space for calm and relaxation. I often get asked where I teach and at the moment I only teach privately through events, small groups and 1-2-1 and I really love sharing yoga in this way 🤍
This was a special event for me on a personal note, too, as it was the first time I’d been out properly on my own or done any sort of physical activity for over a month. I do plan to share a little more about this and the new direction I am taking the business in soon, but in December my condition deteriorated suddenly and since then I have been mostly at home, unable to go out much due to loss of mobility, pain, fatigue and weakness. I can’t walk very far (or fast) and did wonder how I’d be able to teach being so poorly and the opposite of peak physical fitness!
I was excited about the event though and wanted to keep my commitment, so after weeks spent mostly under a blanket I rolled out my mat a few weeks ago to create this flow. I didn’t expect much, but after a little gentle, tentative movement I felt more free and I could practice enough to put together and learn the flow. There’s so much more to yoga than the physical asana element of course but I thought this was a beautiful reminder that movement is medicine - just one reason I love to share it with others 🕊
Thanks so much again to everyone at WICL for the warm welcome and for sharing such lovely feedback, and to from for inviting me 🤍
