Google has changed search again.

No, SEO isn’t dead.

But generic content is becoming easier to ignore.

The businesses that will stay visible are those demonstrating genuine expertise, answering real customer questions and building a recognisable brand.

If you’re not sure whether your website and content are helping or hurting your visibility, I offer straightforward marketing and website audits covering:

✔️SEO & AI search
✔️Content performance
✔️User journeys & conversions
✔️Quick wins and priorities

Just practical recommendations you can act on.

Paid ads don’t fix broken marketing.

They just send more people into it and waste your marketing budget.

If nothing happens after the click, that’s not an ads issue.

PPC has its place for sure but it’s often used as a panic tactic to quickly get “some results” which is usually a short term fix if not done properly and as part of a wider marketing strategy.

On my way to see a client last week, I pulled up at a junction and a woman driving a white van let me out.

We locked eyes and honestly?
I loved it. 🫠
Not because I’m a raging homo (although maybe it helped 🌈).

I just love seeing women in spaces people still subconsciously associate with men. And no, women driving vans isn’t exactly groundbreaking in 2026.
But you still notice it, don’t you?

Probably because a lot of us know what it feels like to walk into rooms where:
- you’re the only woman
- your ideas get ignored until a man repeats them
- you’ve had to fight twice as hard just to be taken seriously.

I’ve worked in multiple environments where I was massively outnumbered and I’m not saying it was bad...but it was noticeable and I felt it.

So if you’re a woman leading a business, building something from scratch, dragging a company forward, or forcing your way to the front to actually be heard:

I see you 👋
I respect the hell out of you.
And frankly you’re probably exactly the type of person I like working with.

Most of my work now is helping businesses untangle messy marketing, fix disconnected strategies and stop wasting money on things that aren’t working.

Which, coincidentally, is something a lot of women in leadership are very good at spotting quickly.

Anyway.
Shout out to the white van woman.
Absolute queen.

This is absolutely wild / the funniest typo ever.

Don’t get me wrong I have lived in generalist marketing roles for a chunk of my career but the expectations are getting beyond ridiculous with some marketing jobs where the marketing manager’s remit it EVERYTHING THE LIGHT TOUCHES 🤦🏼‍♀️
But maybe for £450k it’s fine 👀

3 things I see small businesses wasting money on right now

I hate seeing people spend money on stuff they don’t need.

Potentially something ingrained by my mother, regardless, it’s annoying because it’s usually the reason nothing’s working.

A few repeat offenders:

🤦🏼‍♀️1. Fancy tools they’re not ready for
If your basics aren’t sorted, the tool isn’t the problem.
It just makes the mess more expensive.

🤦🏼‍♀️2. Paid ads before anything else is working
Ads don’t fix broken journeys.
They just send more people into them.

🤦🏼‍♀️3. Content for the sake of it
Posting loads, saying very little, and wondering why it’s not converting.

Most of the time, it’s not that marketing isn’t working.

It’s that no one’s properly looked at how it all fits together.

So you end up throwing more at it and hoping something sticks.

If your marketing feels expensive but a bit… unclear, this is usually why.

If you need help making sense of your messy marketing - give me a shout.

If you’ve just started a business, you’re likely about to waste money chasing a perfect brand that nobody sees.

Remember - If you’ve built a beautiful website, without marketing you’re invisible.

Please speak to a digital marketer or digital strategist, SEO expert before you invest in a website that’s going to eat up your budget.

If your site isn’t ranking, look at your structure.

Considering your website structure for SEO helps search engines and AI understand what you do, how your services connect, and where your authority sits.

Clear service pages.
Logical hierarchy.
Strong internal links.

When your structure makes sense, search engines can categorise you properly and AI can reference you with confidence.

A pretty website is great, but ignoring the technical set up risks nobody being able to find it, use it or give it the opportunity to serve as a powerful marketing tool.

Hubspot email follow up should move people closer to a decision - no annoy them. 👀

If you’re a marketing manager or a small business sending the same message to everyone with multiple CTAs your email performance is bound to suffer.

Does AI replace SEO?
No.

AI search or AIO is just like traditional AI with a little spice.

AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude - all rely on being fed information to provide their responses.

This comes from your website and other sites, third-party platforms.

If your site does follow basic search principles like:
- answering specific questions
- having structured service pages
- using relevant terms
- build authority and trust signals

You’re losing the competition to show up in AI or Google search.

What has changed though is how results re presented - what’s not changed is that your website needs content, authority and optimising.
