Isn’t it funny how sometimes as business owners we are the WORST at delivering our own services to ourselves…?

Nail techs that don’t have time for nice nails.
Massage therapists with achy backs and shoulders.
Gardeners with unkept borders that need weeding…

Well, I’ve been so busy supporting various clients over the last few months creating and revamping new websites for them that I’ve TOTALLY neglected my own 🙈

But I’m happy to say that I’ve finally updated several pages, including the Website Design, Website Refresh, Graphic Design and Complete Package pages to reflect some of the things I’ve been doing behind the scenes 🙌

It’s not often we get the chance to truly celebrate our achievements, and even less so in style…

So attending the VEDA Women’s Club CIC ‘s Opulence Gala and Awards as a nominee last night was not only a great and humbling honour, but a REALLY fun night out too!

The ‘Outstanding Woman’ award wasn’t won by me in the end, but to have been put forward by my loving and supportive partner Shaun auraform_creative was genuinely a prize in itself 🥰

Because he sees what goes on behind the scenes. He sees the hours spent promoting and organising and showing up to connect the women that make up Boss Babes Networking UK as a community.

And to also have that kind of support behind me and encouragement makes the world of difference.

We had a fantastic and very glamorous evening out at Moonshine Leicester, which is a lush venue I hope to revisit.

For me, the evening consisted then not of a new memory of winning the award, but instead of what happens when women come together to celebrate each other, and of course, the great men that lift us up too 🩷

As a prolific networker (and host of Boss Babes Networking) you can imagine I go through A LOT of business cards…

The funny thing is that as a designer of business cards too, getting mine updated and reprinted fell to the bottom of my to do list, behind getting everyone else’s work completed first!

But they’re done, and they’re here 🙌

This time I opted for having both of my business details on a two-sided version, rather than having one for Claire Scott Digital and one for Boss Babes.

I also added my first QR code - because the LinkedIn URL’s are painfully long - and opted for a soft touch finish. They do feel very satisfying to pick up…

Now all that’s left to do is hand them out!

Don’t jump to AI when you want a leaflet or PDF designing - come to me! 😊

Emma Dynasty Wills and Estate Planning did just that. She sent me a three line email for a promotional leaflet, and a Word document without any images for a multiple page downloadable checklist for her website.

That’s all I needed (helped by the fact that we’ve worked together before so I have her logo and branding elements already).

She was able to review the designs and make adjustments, but all in all, she was happy with them and now has two high-quality designs ready to print (her PDF will be digital for now, but she can repurpose).

And there’s NO AI HERE - just a happy small business owner instead 😊

And there was me thinking the summer would slow down…!

There’s nothing quite like ticking things off your to-do list and getting happy feedback from clients.

But it feels even sweeter when it all comes together in the final hours on a Friday…

I’ve been doing this for a long time now, and I think we are all pretty bad at minimising just how much time, energy and experience we have poured into our work over the years.

The website build for my client Nici .transformationnetwork required a little extra compared to some of my recent project work...

She wanted the website to not only reflect her fast-growing hub of coaching, workshops and corporate/strategic development, but also to offer a bespoke Membership Area, where people could maximise their own personal development through accessing webinars, downloads and more behind a paywall.

The back-end development, therefore, went hand in hand with the front-end, where it had to look modern, communicate clearly, and navigate simply.

This was all way out of Nici’s remit and schedule, so she chose to hand the project over to me, and after sharing a logo, some visual preferences, the written content, plus some great images and videos, she left the rest to me.

I’m delighted to report that I ended up with a very happy customer and she ended up with a website that she loved. 🥰

I might be the one with the experience and expertise…

But my clients are the ones with a dream, a vision and a passion for their business.

So when I design a logo, it’s a not a case of me simply dictating what I think they should have.

We start with a discussion and/or a kind of mood board of likes, dislikes and preferences in terms of colour, icons and fonts.

From there, I create designs which are then shared with the client to review, after which we can hone in on a particular favourite or re-develop the ideas, drawing together the elements that they really like.

So what you can see above are seven very different processes and outcomes in terms of the final design.

But what they all have in common is that they were personal and deeply resonated with the clients who they now belong to, and who happily, confidently and avidly use them to help market their businesses 🙌🩷

Everyone walks away happy - including me! ☺️

I thought about making this post smaller and easier to read as it’s quite long…

But how crazy would that be? To edit down something as wonderfully supportive, encouraging and glowing as this piece of feedback from my client Gary…!

As a B2B service, a positive working relationship is one of the most fundamental reasons why a) a business thrives and grows, and b) what makes being self-employed actually worthwhile.

There is a leap of faith and hope that comes when someone signs up to work with you. And that extends both ways.

But when it works - as it has done in the case of taking on Gary as a retainer client (breaking my own rules!) - then it’s every bit as good as he speaks about in this testimonial 🙌

Hopefully this serves not at only as a reminder to myself about all the good things I do for my clients 🥰, but also as a stepping stone for YOU reading this, in case you feel more encouraged to take that leap and reach out to work with me… ☺️
