Hey everyone!
I need some help here at Engage & Prosper, if you're feeling generous?
I've done quite a bit of pivoting the last few years (as founders often do) whilst we find our calling, or our next calling. Also known as 'Ikigai'. Simon Sinek would call it, 'Your Why' ( in a way, which I also love and support hugely, he had a big impression on me some years ago! Thank you Simon)
So I spent some time on my own Ikigai a few months ago. What my passions are, what I am good at and what the world needs and what they world might pay me for.
And it was preparing the future of work and the world of work for my Son, soon to be 12, as well as his peers and adult children whose parents want the best possible lives and future for their children too, to support them, to harness their talents and help them reach their full potential in a rich and rewarding, fulfilling life.
Sounds rather grand doesn't it. (Bit like world peace by the Miss World contestants way back when they televised the shows when I was growing up).
So, as stealing the best ideas are a form of flattery and initiative, (why wouldn't you, think Bill Gates may have done that once or twice, though I may be misinformed there!) - I just created the My Career Concierge community.
The purpose, or my why? To help people in career transition find a job, a way of earning money and a living and purpose, that they love.
Be it that they are leaving education and just starting out, or being disillusioned in their current role and career now, or just wanting to do what they now know they love, but not sure how to best do that.
I want people to avoid the job bouncing and disappointments and frustrations that I experienced as I didn't know what I wanted to do when I left school. I knew I wanted to earn money in order to be independent and start my life on my terms. Just didn't know what i'd be any good at and that I would enjoy enough to stay learning it for enough time to get any good at it anyway..
I want to help other people do that, with more clarity, courage conviction and connection. Ideally, through the My Career Concierge Community.
My Career Concierge aims to bring like minded people together, whatever age, (18+) to forge real connections between real people, (you know, those that would rather live fully than watch someone else doing that). To learn, share and grow, focussed on discovering what makes them spring out of bed, every morning - (professionally anyway), and helping them to create a plan to make that dream job or path to their ideal career, a reality.
It's just me on this. It's just started, it has flaws, mistakes, bad branding, gaps, typos, and not making any money yet. But oh it has potential. And I'm authentic. This is authentic (the errors and imperfections so far, make it so!) I really only know how to do one thing well and that's - be me. I've done it all my life so far, and aim to for many years yet to come.
To bring people together, to connect people, to create real relationships, friendships and networks, ones that last a long time if not a lifetime and are worth having.
You know, you remember, you relate, the ones where you laugh a lot and have fun doing stuff, can call them up or meet up years later and it seem like you saw them only yesterday, it's that natural and easy. To have lots of moments that matter.
I want that for my Son and his friends and your Sons, Daughters and their friends, and your mums and dads Sons and Daughters (that's you by the way! in case I lost you - I do that!). They say it takes a village to raise a child. That has never been more true than now. I like to think that this community we are creating, is a virtual village online, and that it is the start and foundation of great friendships, relationships, careers and lives.
So I would REALLY love your help please, comments, feedback, sharing, involvement, suggestions, partnerships, sponsors, members, mentors, thought leaders, subject matter experts, career coaches, work experience and networking opportunities for members, introductions for me or members who might be interesting for later even if not now.
You can try the My Career Concierge community and Essential Ikigai Career Crafting free for 7 days. (Or likely longer whilst I sort out the gates plans and spaces and how they all interact, I've overcomplicated already - again!!) Every days a school day!
I know it needs to be more interactive, I need momentum and a critical mass of members to interact and connect like you do here, but what it the best way to get that going, given tech and AI advancements now and me now being on not a boot strapped budget, but the equivalent of those little plastic round things at the end of your shoelaces that stopped them fraying? Those things, that's what and how "WORDStrapped" I am. So organic effort suggestions please.
And any feedback and help gratefully received!
Anyone who helps me out now in any way, can have a free account membership for life (so long as you are kind and a decent human being of course). *CAVEAT Recognising there may be a limit to volume threshold members and costs on the platform which I haven't even looked at yet, as it would be a nice problem to have!
I'm assuming only a handful of you may have a nose - So can I cap it at first 100 joiners, if I was so lucky? That fair and reasonable? I hope so.
If I can help you in any way, please ask!

And thank you, to anyone who has a nose or suggests, helps or shares.
Warmest wishes

I couldn't help myself. Google says.... The aglet, the plastic or metal tip on the end of a shoelace, was not invented by one specific person. While Harvey Kennedy is credited with popularising the modern shoelace with aglets in 1790, and is said to have made a fortune from it, the concept of using a protective tip on cords and laces dates back much further. The earliest aglets were likely made of metal, glass, or stone, and may have been used on ribbons and other cords before shoelaces.
See I told you the best ideas are always stolen! ๐
