B81 Designs I’m Bhavini, a Milton Keynes-based freelance graphic designer, coffee fiend and colour obsessive.

I know all the rules, but I also know how to break them to create striking and impactful design. I love working with clients of all shapes and sizes, from the likes of Barclaycard and British Gas to business-to-business start-ups, and it’s awesome that freelancing allows me to do both. Although I mainly work with organisations in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, I’ve done work f

or clients across the world, from Australia to America. So if you like what I do, no matter where you are based, I’d love to hear from you.

We took a break from hosting MK in August because, you know...school holidays!

But we’re back on September 4th and we’re really excited! We’ll be spending the day at the gorgeous x+why at Unity Place.

Stacey and I are looking forward to being in a room full of lovely smiley people chatting over coffee.

This time we’ve got Susie joining us as our guest speaker; she’ll be talking to us about navigating change in our businesses.

If you fancy working somewhere other than your kitchen table for the day, come join us. No pitch, no pressure, just really really good company, proper coffee and delicious cake.

Details and tickets on the Cowork Crew website.

June was pretty much a whirlwind! It’s been go go go! Anyone else?

It all kicked off with the first ever Cowork Crew MK on the 3rd - a coworking day that Stacey Chandler | Female Freedom Coach and I are hosting at X+Why each month.

The following week was The Marketing Meetup, where the lovely Nick had two slightly different hats on - event host & event speaker. He did well!

Then Birmingham Design Festival...one of my fave events to go to each year! A full day of just watching talks, learning, and completely switching off from work. Made even better by spending it with a lovely bunch of friends.

Everywoman festival in London was next, I met a lovely author and illustrator, and learned a lot about perimenopause...mostly that no one knows enough! Because even though it’s 2026, there still hasn’t been enough investment and research into women’s health!!!

The week after I was sitting in a room at the gallery with local creatives talking about the Milton Keynes 2029 City of Culture bid.

And it was all rounded off at Canva HQ in Shoreditch for 10th anniversary meetup. Frankie’s built something really special with this community!

Each one of those events has been incredibly fun, and I’m sooo glad none of them were this week, otherwise I’d have melted.

Dear Bhav

Got a question that’s been keeping you up at night?

Something like: how do I make my brand accessible without turning it into a beige waiting room?

Yep. That’s the first Dear Bhav question I’ve chosen to tackle...because accessibility is something everyone should think about BEFORE starting any of the fun design stuff.

Accessibility doesn’t have to kill your personality. Read my full reply on the blog (links in the bio), there’s some practical advice in there.

Promise.

And if you’ve got your own burning brand question, send it over to [email protected].

Anonymously. No judgement.

After my wobble about mind monkeys yesterday, I’m just putting this out there because otherwise I’ll just make all the excuses to procrastinate over it!!!

We’ll all do a bit of work, have a natter and most importantly eat lush cake!

Combining 20+ years of social justice expertise with a brilliant personal story.

I loved working on the new brand identity for Loaftin Research & Consultancy! They’re a social enterprise led by two internationally recognised criminologists, Prof. Zoë James PhD and Dr. Katie McBride.

Loaftin does amazing work in the public sector where trust and authority are everything, helping to create environments where diversity is celebrated and inclusivity is the norm.

The big challenge here was creating a visual identity that feels highly credible to policymakers, but still stays warm, human, and deeply personal. It also needed to sit well alongside the University of Plymouth branding, as they support Loaftin’s vital work!

A little design secret... if you look closely at the letters, the curved roof shape of a campervan is cut directly out of the letters. On the surface it’s a professional mark, but it’s also a quiet nod to Zoë and Katie’s shared love for campervans - loaf tin being slang for a VW Transporter.

It’s the perfect little detail that rewards those in the know and makes the brand feel genuinely personal.
