Ferne Animal Sanctuary set for its annual Spring Festival
on Sunday 5th April 2026

Ferne Animal Sanctuary, the Somerset-based animal rehabilitation and rehoming charity, is ready to welcome visitors for its annual Spring Festival on Sunday 5 April, at its 72-acre site in Chard.

Ticket holders can enjoy a range of Easter-themed activities, including a schedule of Easter egg hunts where seekers can purchase a ticket for £2 to find a toy egg in each of the six colours, arts and crafts in the creative corner, a pop-up charity shop, and delicious food and refreshments available from Perdida café. The fun-filled day out is open to family, friends and well-behaved pets of all ages.

ImageEntry should be prebooked and includes access to the grounds of the sanctuary for the day, where sharp-eyed animal lovers can spend their time spotting the furry and feathered animal residents who live within the grounds of the working sanctuary, including horses, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and even the Easter Bunny may hop by for a visit.

Amy Rendell, Corporate & Events Officer at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, says, “The Spring Festival is one of our absolute favourite events in the calendar. After the quieter winter months, the Sanctuary is bursting back into life - the fields are greener, the animals are more active, and there’s a real sense of energy building ahead of Easter.

ImageTickets are available to book at the reduced rate of £5 per adult and £3 per child, with an additional fee of £2 per person to join the Easter egg hunt, which is payable at the visitor centre on the day.

Amy continues, “For our team, it’s such a special opportunity to open our gates and share the spring atmosphere with the community. Families can explore the grounds, spot the animals and simply enjoy being outdoors together at a time of year that feels full of promise. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed for a day of beautiful spring sunshine to help us celebrate in style.

“Most importantly, every visit makes a difference. Events like the Spring Festival help us to raise vital funds to allow us to continue our care for the animals who call Ferne their home. We can’t wait to welcome everyone.”

Ferne Animal Sanctuary is a non-government funded charity that has provided refuge and rehabilitation to its animals for more than 85 years. Located in a Natural Landscapes area and nested in the Blackdown Hills near Chard, Somerset, Ferne Animal Sanctuary houses and cares for more than 300 animals on its 72-acre site.
