Our Story

Rather than having to 'fit in' in a conventional working environment, or providing token employment, we look to shape our working environment around the skills and needs of individuals on the autism spectrum, enabling the condition to become an asset rather than an impairment. We get no external funding, our success comes from our hard work.

This doesn't mean our customers can expect a second rate service. In fact, we've carefully chosen the products and services we offer to use skills in areas that many people with autism excel. We're open, honest and transparent with everything we do. If you're expecting magnificent sales pitches or friendly breakfast meetings, we'll openly admit to being rubbish. If you want the job done right, and don't want to pay extra for our flashy cars or fancy offices, you've found the right people.

I’m Tracy, mum of 4, all with a plethora of rare medical conditions ... and autism. I have 15+ years experience as a full stack web developer (everything from server admin to graphic design), but as my children approached adulthood I became increasingly worried about a life of unemployment and sanctions for them. I decided to do something about it and created Autistec, and in the process discovered that I’m also on the autism spectrum.

In September 2018, we moved into our shop on Yorkshire Street, and Callum became our first part time employee. In September 2019 we expanded into next door, 6 West Street; this will become our workshop.
