Let's talk about followers.

Yes, growing an audience can be useful.

But follower count on its own doesn't tell you very much about whether your marketing is actually working.

I'd much rather know:

→ Are the right people seeing your content?
→ Are they saving it?
→ Are they sharing it?
→ Are they visiting your profile?
→ Are they clicking through?
→ Are they enquiring?
→ Are they buying?

Because ultimately, the purpose of marketing isn't simply to collect followers.

It's to build awareness, trust and relationships that support your business goals.

So the next time you look at your follower count and think "I'm getting nowhere"…

Look at the rest of the picture too.

A little reminder that the finished Instagram post is very rarely the whole story.

Behind the polished feed there are usually:

☕ cold cups of tea
📱 14 tabs open (a minimum)
📝 notes everywhere
🎨 changing your mind about the colour
🤔 questioning whether anyone will actually care
✨ and eventually… something you're happy with

I think sometimes we make marketing look much more complicated, and much more polished, than it really is.

Good strategy doesn't have to look glamorous.

Sometimes it looks like sitting at the kitchen table figuring things out between everything else life throws at you.

And honestly?

That's probably the bit I like most.

When you don't know what to post, don't immediately go searching for another list of 100 content ideas.

Go back to the basics.

TEACH something useful.

SHOW people what happens behind the scenes.

TELL them what you believe.

PROVE that you know what you're talking about.

CONNECT with something they recognise from their own experience.

You can create hundreds of posts from those five categories alone.

The trick isn't finding more ideas.

It's learning how to turn what you already know into content your audience actually cares about.

Save this one for your next content-planning day.

Here's your permission to stop treating Instagram like a daily attendance register.

You don't necessarily need to post every day.

You need to post with enough consistency that people know you're there, and enough value that they have a reason to come back.

I'd rather see a small business posting twice a week with a clear message than posting seven times a week because an Instagram guru told them they had to.

Consistency matters.

But **sustainable consistency** matters more.

Especially when you're building a business around an actual life.

What's your biggest struggle with staying consistent?

If I was starting a business's social media from scratch, I wouldn't begin by asking:

*"What should we post today?"*

I'd start with the bigger picture.

Who are we talking to?

What do we want to be known for?

Where does that audience actually spend their time?

What do we want social media to achieve?

THEN I'd build the content.

Because content without strategy can very quickly become a very pretty hamster wheel. 🐹

Save this for the next time you're tempted to completely restart your social media.

Use Canva folders, it saves HOURS!

If your Canva is chaos, your content will feel chaotic too.
Organising your designs into simple folders makes creating, editing, and posting so much easier.
You’ll spend less time searching…
and more time actually creating.
A tidy Canva = a tidy mind.
And honestly? It’s one of the easiest ways to save hours every single week.
Do you use folders yet?

New service! Canva clean up and organisation ✨

If your Canva is a chaotic mix of drafts, designs and random uploads....you are not alone. Most people don't have time, or the patience to sort it.....that's where I come in.

I'll organise Canva for you:
✨ Create folders
✨ Sort your designs
✨ Label everything clearly
✨ Or follow a folder structure you choose

This is an Ad-hoc service at £15 per hour, and we will agree a time needed before I start.

If your Canva needs a tidy up, I'm you girl!

🚨 Unpopular opinion: your brand colours matter more than your logo.
Your logo is important, but it's not what people see most.

Your colours appear everywhere:
✨ Social media posts
✨ Website
✨ Packaging
✨ Marketing materials
✨ Emails
✨ Business cards

Over time, people begin to recognise you before they even read your name.
Think about some of the biggest brands in the world. You can often recognise them from a single colour palette long before you see their logo.
That's why choosing colours shouldn't be based on what you like today. They should reflect your brand personality, connect with your ideal audience, and stay consistent across everything you create.
A memorable brand isn't built around a logo alone, it's built through consistency.
Do you agree, or do you think the logo is still the most important part of a brand? 👇

✨ Who I Work With ✨

H&C Studio is all about supporting the people who make our communities feel alive. The small businesses, the clubs, the creatives, the organisers, the do‑ers.

Here’s who I love creating for:
🛍 Small Businesses
Makers, shops, service providers, online sellers, anyone who wants their socials to feel consistent, professional, and full of personality.

⚽ Sports Clubs
Grassroots teams, youth clubs, community football, matchday graphics, fixtures, results, player spotlights, fun reels, sponsor posts… all the good stuff that keeps your club connected.

🏘 Community Groups
Events, local organisations, theatres, charities, village projects, warm, friendly content that helps you reach the people who matter.

🎨 Creatives
Artists, crafters, Etsy sellers, performers, visual storytelling, product reels, brand kits, and content that shows off your work beautifully.

If you’re in any of these spaces and want your social media to feel easier, clearer, and more consistent, I’d love to help.

Drop me a message and let’s chat. 💛

📱 Stuck wondering what to post? Start with these three things every week:

✨ 1. Show your work
Take people behind the scenes. Whether it's creating a product, preparing for a client, packing an order, or setting up your workspace, people love seeing the process.

💬 2. Share your expertise
Answer a question you get asked all the time, bust a common myth, or give one actionable tip. Helping your audience builds trust.

❤️ 3. Be human
People buy from people. Share your wins, lessons, the face behind the business, or even the occasional chaotic moment. Authenticity creates connection.

You don't need to post every da, you just need to post with purpose.
Which of these do you find hardest: behind the scenes, educational content, or showing up yourself? 👇
