So… how did your first week go with the kids back at school? 😂🎒

I feel like this week has been a strange mixture of...

YES! Routine is back! 🙌

…and…

How are we already back to making packed lunches, finding PE kits and remembering 400 different things before 8:30am?! 😂

After the organised chaos of the summer holidays, I have to admit, getting some proper routine back has felt GOOD.

From a business point of view, September always feels a little bit like a second New Year to me.

The diary gets busier.

People are back from holidays.

Projects start moving again.

And suddenly those things that were “we'll look at that after the summer” are very much back on the agenda. 👀

I've definitely felt a renewed energy with Alexandra's Marketing this week too. Lots going on with my lovely clients, new ideas flying around and plenty on the to-do list.

But I'm also trying not to fall straight back into the trap of filling every available minute just because I can.

I'm learning that being busy and being productive aren't always the same thing.

So here's to September a little more routine, a little more focus and hopefully still remembering to make time for life outside the laptop too. 💚

How has your first week back been?

Relieved to have the routine back? Missing the summer? Or already counting down to half term? 😂👇

PHEW… we made it through the summer holidays! 😂☀️

And what a summer it’s been.

Running Alexandra’s Marketing, having a baby, keeping a 6-year-old entertained, trying to make the most of the holidays AND keeping everything else in life ticking along…

Safe to say, there’s been a lot of juggling! 🤹‍♀️

Some days I’ve felt completely on top of things.

Other days I’ve wondered what day it is, where my coffee has gone and why there is STILL another load of washing to do. 😂

But amongst all the chaos, we’ve made some gorgeous memories. And that’s the bit I never want to lose sight of. 🤍

One of the biggest things I’m learning is that balance doesn’t mean giving everything equal attention all of the time.

Sometimes family needs more of me.

Sometimes my business does.

And sometimes the housework just needs to wait... quite often actually. 🤣

And that’s okay.

Now September is here, I’m definitely ready for a bit more routine, a clearer head and lots of exciting things happening with Alexandra’s Marketing. 💚

But first… can we just appreciate all the parents who survived weeks of:

“Muuuum, what are we doing today?” 😂🙌

We did it!

How are you feeling about September? Are you ready for the routine or already missing the summer? 👇

“Alex, can I just run something past you?”

Honestly, I LOVE getting those messages. 😂💚

Because that's a big part of what I do at Alexandra's Marketing.

I'm not just here to create a few social media posts and disappear until next month.

For many of my clients, I become their go-to marketing person.

The person they call when...

💡 They've got an idea and aren't sure what to do with it.

📣 They need to promote something but don't know where to start.

✍️ They need content, an email, a campaign or some fresh messaging.

🤔 Something isn't working and they want another pair of eyes on it.

📈 They want to grow but need someone to actually make the marketing happen.

Some weeks I'm creating social media content.

Other weeks I'm planning campaigns, writing emails, working on websites, prospecting, creating marketing materials or sitting down with a client figuring out what we should be doing next.

And that's probably one of my favourite things about what I do.

No two clients are the same. And no two days are either.

I've worked in marketing for over 18 years now, across lots of different areas and industries, and I love being able to bring that experience into my clients' businesses.

I can slot into your team when you need me, without the commitment of employing a full-time marketing person.

Basically...

If it's marketing and you're sitting there thinking, “Who can sort this?”... I'm your person. 😂

That's pretty much my job description!

What's the one marketing job that's been sitting on your to-do list for FAR too long? 👀👇

Something I've realised recently… my best marketing ideas rarely happen when I'm actually doing marketing. 😂

They happen on the school run.

Making a bottle.

Walking with the girls.

Putting the washing away.

Or, annoyingly, at 11pm when I should definitely be asleep. 🙈

And I think there's a lesson in that.

Since having Hattie, I've had to become much more protective of my time. I'm working more focused hours, stepping away from the laptop more and accepting that I simply can't be "on" all the time.

And strangely… I think it's making me better at what I do.

Because good marketing needs space to think.

It's not just about posting for the sake of posting, ticking off a content calendar or jumping on every new trend.

Sometimes you need to stop, look at the bigger picture and ask:

👉 What are we actually trying to achieve?

👉 Who are we trying to reach?

👉 Is what we're doing actually working?

18+ years in marketing and I'm still a firm believer that more marketing isn't always better marketing.

Sometimes doing less, but doing it with more thought, makes a much bigger impact. 💚

And apparently sometimes the answer to a marketing problem really does come while folding a mountain of baby clothes. 😂

Where do your best ideas come to you?

Mine definitely aren't at my desk! 👇

Sorry I've been a little quiet on here lately!

It's certainly not because things have slowed down... quite the opposite.

There has been so much going on behind the scenes, working on some fantastic projects with some amazing clients.

One thing I'm particularly proud of is that I'm now working with businesses across the UK, Spain and Germany. It's been an exciting journey, and I'm genuinely loving every minute of it. Every project teaches me something new, and that's one of the things I love most about running Alexandra's Marketing is that there's always something new to learn.

At the same time, I'm making the most of the summer with my girls. We've already enjoyed trips to Abersoch, plenty of days out, and we're still making memories whenever we can. For me, it's all about balance.

This morning was one of those moments that reminded me why I do what I do. My six-year-old wanted to spend the morning playing with mummy, but I had to explain that Nanny was coming because mummy had to work.

Of course, there was a little bit of mum guilt (I think every working parent knows that feeling), but I also realised it's an important lesson. I want my girls to understand that working hard creates opportunities. It allows us to enjoy those family holidays, spontaneous days out, and special moments together. Work isn't about missing out it's about making those memories possible.

Running your own business isn't always easy, but having the flexibility to build a life that works for both my family and my clients makes it all worthwhile.

Here's to continuing to learn, grow and find that balance. 💙

**A little update... 🤍**

This week, my nanny started.

If I'm honest, I'd been building it up in my head for weeks.

The guilt.

The overthinking.

Wondering if I was doing the right thing.

Wondering if I'd regret it.

As mums, we're so good at convincing ourselves we should be able to do everything on our own.

The reality?

We don't have to.

And this week has reminded me of that.

I've been able to give my clients my full attention during work hours.

I've been more productive.

Less stressed.

And when I finish work, I can switch off and be fully present with my girls, instead of trying to answer emails while making tea or replying to messages at 10pm.

The biggest lesson I've learnt?

**Work-life balance isn't about trying to fit everything into every day.**

It's about making sure you're fully present wherever you are.

When I'm working, I'm working.

When I'm with my family, I'm with my family.

That feels like a huge win.

I'm incredibly grateful to have found someone I trust to care for Hattie, and although the mum guilt still pops up now and then, I already know it was the right decision for our family.

Sometimes asking for help isn't admitting defeat...

It's creating the space to be the best version of yourself—for your business, your family and yourself. 🤍

If you're struggling to juggle everything right now, this is your reminder that it's okay to accept support.

You don't have to carry it all on your own.

✨ I'd love to know... what's one thing you've done that has genuinely improved your work-life balance?

Happy Friday! ☀️

Has anyone else reached Friday wondering where the week actually went? 😂

This week has been one of those where the to-do list somehow got longer instead of shorter.

There have been client meetings, content plans, campaigns, emails squeezed into nap times, school holidays around the corner... and lots of coffee! ☕💚

Running a business is never perfect.

Some weeks you feel on top of everything.

Other weeks you're just doing your best to keep all the plates spinning.

And that's okay.

One thing I've learnt recently is to celebrate the small wins too.

A happy client.

A lovely message.

Finishing a project.

Or simply making it to Friday knowing you gave it your all.

So before we head into the weekend...

What's been your biggest win this week? 👇

It doesn't have to be business-related it could be absolutely anything.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend. Time to switch off, recharge and spend some quality time with the people who matter most. 🤍

A little honesty today... 🤍

This week has been one of those weeks.

Running a business while caring for a 12-week-old baby has been harder than I expected.

Add in being a mum to my six-year-old daughter, keeping on top of the house, being a wife, trying to be present for everyone... and I've found myself overthinking everything.

The truth is, there's a huge amount of pressure on women.

To be successful in business.

To be an amazing mum.

To have a tidy house.

To be present.

To look like we've got it all together.

This week I've had to remind myself of something...

I'm not Superwoman!!!!!!!

And actually, I don't need to be.

The week after next, my nanny starts.

I know it's the right decision for my business, my family and my sanity, but I'd be lying if I said the guilt hasn't crept in.

Will I miss moments?

Am I doing the right thing?

Am I getting the balance right?

I don't think those questions ever completely disappear.

Then a photo like this pops up on my phone... 🤍

And it reminds me exactly why I do what I do.

I'm not building Alexandra's Marketing just to run a business.

I'm building it to create a life for my girls.

To show them that you can work hard, follow your passion, build something you're proud of and still be there for the people who matter most.

Will I get the balance right every day?

Probably not.

But I'm learning that life isn't about getting everything perfect. It's about doing the best you can with the season you're in.

To my wonderful clients... thank you.

Thank you for understanding when an email arrives later in the evening, at the weekend or during nap time. Thank you for your patience, your kindness and your support while I navigate this new chapter.

It honestly means more than you know.

And to every parent, business owner, or anyone carrying more than people realise...

Please remember to give yourself a little grace.

You're probably doing a much better job than you think. 🤍

The summer holidays are nearly here... ☀️

If you're a small business owner, you probably know the feeling.

The kids are off school, routines disappear, clients are away, enquiries slow down for some businesses... and somehow you're trying to keep everything moving whilst making memories too.

It can feel like a balancing act.

My biggest piece of advice?

Don't put pressure on yourself to do everything.

Instead...

🌿 Plan a little ahead.

🌿 Schedule content where you can.

🌿 Stay visible, even if you post a little less.

🌿 Remember that consistency doesn't have to mean perfection.

Your audience doesn't expect you to be online 24/7. They just want to know you're still there.

For me, this summer looks a little different too.

With a newborn, a 6 year old and a business to run, I'll be embracing flexible working, early mornings, nap times and the occasional laptop session in the garden. And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way. 🤍

One of the reasons I started Alexandra's Marketing was to build a business that fitted around my life, not the other way round. This summer is exactly what that looks like.

So if you're trying to juggle business and family over the next few weeks...

You've got this. 💚

How does your business change over the summer holidays? I'd love to hear how you make it work. 👇

☀️ Is anyone else finding it impossible to concentrate in this heat?

As much as I'm loving the sunshine, I'm definitely swapping multiple coffees for iced drinks, opening every window I can find and trying to keep my laptop from overheating! 😂

One thing I have learnt over the years is that not every day has to look the same.

Some days you're full of ideas and fly through your to-do list.

Other days (especially when it's 30°C+ 🌡️) it's about prioritising what really matters and giving yourself a bit of grace.

Business doesn't stop because it's hot... but it's okay to work a little differently.

So today, I'm embracing flexible working, staying hydrated 💧 and making the most of these sunny evenings after work. 🌸

**Question... what's your hot weather essential when you're working?**

☕ Coffee
🧋 Iced latte
🧊 Air conditioning/Fan
🍦 Ice cream (no judgement!)
