All the disciplines are here - graphic design, architecture, illustration, product design, fashion, photography and loads more, it's a brilliant snapshot of the new thinking, shaping the next generation of designers. Spring, you are working overtime to convince us it’s nearly summer, while the short-range forecast is showing clouds and rain. Spring, you are a great big tease - especially when we need a winter coat to come to work, a t-shirt just to sit in the office, and an umbrella to get a coffee. Stay focused everyone. One day very soon, we will all be wearing the correct clothing.

Friday's just got freaky. Samba Marwell Wildlife's escaped Capybara has found her vocation... and she's already calling the shots in today's design briefing! She's certainly thinking 'outside the box' and is making some very compelling points about not really being here for the brainstorming; she’s here for the grazing. We’ve had to triple our 'green' budget. Plus, since she discovered our KPIs don't stand for Kale, Parsley, and Iceberg, we think she's about to move on. Please tell us if you see her. "

The interview I’m still ashamed of.
Years ago, when I was running an ad agency in London, I sat in on a recruitment interview with the Big Bad Boss Man from Head Office.
A very young candidate came in. He was nervous and a bit green, but also genuinely lovely. As part of his interview presentation, he’d brought along some little, personally decorated Easter eggs.
I was leading the interview, and I soon realised he wasn't quite right for the role we were offering. But what struck me was his initiative and warmth. He’d done the research, he'd put in the effort. He’d thought about how to stand out. This was going to be his second-ever job.
Then Big Boss Man took over. After all, time is money and money is time, right?
He ripped him apart. He mocked the eggs, told him it was unprofessional, and bluntly said he wouldn’t get the job and should “be more professional next time”.

The room went quiet. He went pale.
And me? I said nothing.

I remember sitting there feeling deeply uncomfortable. I almost convinced myself Big Boss Man must be right. I must be wrong, too emotional, too sensitive.
But the truth was simpler – I didn’t know what to say, and I was scared BBM would turn on me next.
That moment has stayed with me for years. Not because of the bullying – but because I didn’t do anything. Nothing. I’m still ashamed.
That’s why I believe so strongly in being prepared. Because when those moments happen, it’s not about courage. It’s about having the tools to use and the confidence to step in safely.
Bullies rely on silence. Don’t let the bullies rule.
