You might be thinking “Eve, why are you always banging on about Awareness Days?” or “Eve, why do I need to know when World Egg Day is?!”.

And for most of us, we don’t need to know when World Egg Day is (it’s 9th October, for those of you who were wondering).

However if you are an egg farmer, or you sell egg timers, or you’re a cafe who does all kinds of amazing things with eggs for breakfast, you might want to know when World Egg Day is.

Because being able to share a post or a blog with a caption like “How do you like your Eggs in the morning?” on World Egg Day will be great for SEO and mean you are more searchable for that topic by Google* 👀 Which gives you a bigger chance of being seen by more people - hurrah!

You are marketing your business more than you think you are!

When you tell someone what you do - that’s marketing.

When you meet up with other small business owners for a cuppa - that’s marketing.

When you are co-working (online or in-person) and talk about your business - that’s marketing.

Often when I ask small business owners “how much time do you spend on your marketing?” it amazes me how many say “hardly any” or “I really need to do more!”. And then I remind them of the above.

Personally, I think we can always do more marketing but it isn’t always in the style you think it is. It doesn’t need to be a presentation, or handing out printed leaflets.

Simply having a conversation can be enough.

So on World Marketing Day (it’s today btw), I challenge you to do some marketing for your business and let me know in the comments when you’ve done it so I can celebrate with you 🙌

And if you fancy a natter about marketing, tea, biscuits etc. drop me a message and I’ll be back in touch with a cuppa in hand 🧡

May 1st is here! 🌸 Blessed Beltane to all those who celebrate 🌞 What are you looking forward to this month?

I’m embracing the season with joy, creativity and enjoying the outdoors. And I’m making the most of the sunshine today by spending some time in the garden because the arrival of a new month often means a change in weather!

Once again, there are some brilliant ‘days of note’ this month but I’m only sharing a few here.

If you need more ideas take a look at my Speedy Spring Socials. There are 3 different PDF guides packed with content ideas for May & June. The collection has 3 different sectors: Hospitality, Marketing & Retail, with awareness days relevant to each one, plus ideas on what to post for each of the prompts and what type of post to do i.e. Carousel, Reel or IG Stories. All 3 are available to buy from my resource pantry on my website 🔗 link in bio.

Although they are aimed at Instagram, all the ideas can be used for Facebook, LinkedIn and emails too.

Hi, Hello - it’s World Stationery Day today! And if you’re new here you might not be aware of how obsessed I am with all things stationery 🖋 So, let me enlighten you 😂

1 - First up is the beautifully handcrafted Washi Tape holder that my sister commissioned my partner to make for me. It’s not quite full yet which means I can buy more washi tape, yippee! Suggestions welcome in comments below please.

2 & 3 - Gorgeous pieces from Edwina & Olive. Everybody should have the cheese notepad on their desk IMO 🧀

4 - The Best Year Ever Wall Planner by Hannah Isted which is in fact the BEST wall planner EVER and the most stunning handmade notebooks by Michaela & Dorothy (Dorothy being the typewriter she uses to type the words on the front of her masterpieces).

5 - A very magical Snail Mail Sticker Club I joined this year, all created by the amazing Nyx 🍄 Honestly the happiest post you will get through your door!

6 - My latest stationery haul from Tessa at The Stationer (lots of exciting things in the pipeline for Tessa who is opening a bricks & mortar shop too).

7 - A new notepad created by the very talented Angela at Dapple & Dot. I think my sister and I are currently in a competition to see who can own the most items from this dreamy shop.

8 - Want to know how to flip a rejection upside down? Liz Mosley has the answer with her inspiring Go Get Rejected sticker chart.

9 & 10 - As a HUGE tea & biscuit fan it wasn’t going to be long before I made a purchase from Nikki McWilliams and when I discovered she’d made Biscuit Washi, I couldn’t press “order” quick enough 🍪

11 & 12 - Finally I share my newest edition which is the enchanting stationery by Rebecca & Karl at Wildflower Illustration Co. who also created The Sunday Letter Project which I joined in January and just adore 💌

I’ll pop the details of all these amazing humans in the comments because my caption is too long!

And now I’m off to make a cup of tea and do a bit of journaling using some of the fabulous stationery supplies I’ve shown you and relish in the fact it is still light at 8pm - hurrah 🙌

Happy 1st April to you all and I hope you didn’t get caught out by any April Fools this morning! 😂

April has arrived 🌷 and I’m ready for her. My favourite spring quote is “Spring is the time of plans and projects.” by Leo Tolstoy and I am excited for new ideas, new goals and some spring cleaning!

What are you looking forward to this month and this new quarter? Are you also raring to spring clean and set new goals?

I’m hoping we have some more blue skies ahead of us, and not just because I want to take more blue sky selfies as inspired by Hannah in TB90DE 😎

Once again, there are some fabulous ‘days of note’ this month. I’m only sharing a few here this time. For a more ideas, I’ve created Speedy Spring Socials, a collection of PDF guides packed with content ideas for April, May & June.

The collection has 3 different sectors: Hospitality, Marketing & Retail, with awareness days relevant to each one, plus ideas on what to post for each of the prompts and what type of post to do i.e. Carousel, Reel or IG Stories. I LOVE the small business communities I’m a part of 🙌

When I first started my self employed journey as a small business owner who primarily works from home, I felt lonely at times. Before this move, I’d worked in offices and hospitality and was always a member of a team. Suddenly having no-one to bounce ideas off or chat through problems with, I realised that I needed to find some way of recreating the office/team environment I was used to.

I joined the fantastic ‘The Best 90 Days Ever’ community founded by Hannah Isted of HI Communications and instantly felt welcome. Hannah boosts you up, is always on hand to answer questions and gives great advice. She is also known for becoming “sassy Hannah” when you need a kick up the bum! 🤣

The Slack group is next level, with all the members helping each other with advice and encouragement. And it’s always really fun - Hannah comes up with the best challenges!

🌟The Best 90 Days Ever is open for the next round and I 100% recommend you check it out.

I’ve got an affiliate link (in my bio) 🧡

For all the small businesses out there, your community is out there too just waiting to celebrate your wins, pick you up on sad days and encourage your ideas…you’ll know it when you’ve found it 😊

A new month already?! I don’t know if you feel the same, but January seemed to take ages to get through, whereas February seemed to rush by - possibly because of half term?

Anyway, Happy 1st March and Happy St David’s Day to all those who celebrate 🐲

March feels much more of a new beginnings month to me than January or February. I’ve seen lots of green buds on the plants in our garden this morning and there are already some daffodils in bloom. Even though we are still technically in Winter, it feels much more Spring like. Even the air smells different!

There are some brilliant ‘days of note’ this month, and although not all of them will be relevant for your business, they could be good for prompts for behind your brand stories/engagement ideas.

Take a look and let me know in the comments which is your favourite! 😊
