Wow - Wi******er Cathedral was filled with flowers last week for its Flowers and Nature festival. With a strong focus on sustainability, it used mainly British flowers and no floral foam, and many of the large botanical installations cleverly used recycling like bottle tops and egg boxes.
It was wonderful to see the Cathedral packed with people and surrounded by not only the awesome architecture but nature in its autumn hues.

Majestic Exbury Gardens beginning to switch from late summer flower power to its autumnal best 🧡

Spotted these beautiful little Chinese lantern flowers at the edges of the Herbaceous Garden

The azaleas are looking dreamy, almost ‘frothy’

Top pond is such a good spot to sit and relax

Acers are beginning to do their stuff 🍁

The Sundial Garden is crammed with late summer beauties

And has almost a tropical feel

The view down from Mrs Lionel’s Seat is always a treat in autumn

Who else is with me on this? The iconic CopenHill - where Copenhagen converts its waste to energy in a building that can only be described as awesome.
I admit to having wobbly legs at the start as it’s quite high (85 meters) and you get a very up close view of the city’s waterfront! But once I got used to the height I started to explore. Fruit trees, pollinator plants and even a dry ski slope. Met a pensioner who climbs the building every day via the hiking trail to keep fit. Apparently it attracts over 40,000 visitors a year.
So next time you see photos of the mermaid, look behind her 💚

Scandinavia has been on my wish list for so many years & I finally made it - by road 🚗
Took nearly three weeks, travelled through six countries, hunted out the best local bakeries, ate more fish and seafood than ever before and had absolutely the best time.
Highly recommend this fantastic road trip. Had never thought about driving it before but with a little pre-planning and a strategic ferry from northern Denmark to Bergen, it was a breeze 🇫🇷🇳🇱🇩🇪🇩🇰🇳🇴🇸🇪

The new RHS show at Badminton … sizzling hot, lots to see and some wonderful exhibitors and show gardens. Great to see an RHS show in a new location - think it will be a big hit 🌸

If this heatwave was a plant 🔥
Calla lilies - unbelievably easy to grow and look 🔥on your patio in the summer
I’ve got two large patio containers filled with them, and apart from watering and topping with Dalefoot’s wool compost every season, they get no other help.
I do overwinter them in my greenhouse but have some growing in the garden that are now on their third year, although admittedly don’t put on the same show

Wonderful day relaxing at Exbury Gardens first ever Wellness Festival.
Designed to help people pause, reset and reconnect with nature.
Lots of free drop-in sessions including Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, Sound Therapy and breathwork, all led by experienced teachers.
Tried my hand at making Kokedama, Japanese-inspired moss-wrapped ornamental plant balls, which was great fun. There’s also 1:1 massage and guided relaxation. All taking place in a large Festival Marquee on the lawns at Exbury surrounded by the Gardens in their June prime.
On again tomorrow Sunday 14 June - if you are in the area, give it a visit for the most relaxing day 💚

One of the country’s largest historic rock gardens is back, thanks to an incredible seven-year restoration project.
Once hidden beneath overgrown trees and lost pathways ,this 1600 m² historic landscape has been brought back to life with more than 10,000 new plants (assisted by Kevock Garden Plants), restored waterfalls, dramatic rock formations and rare Alpine treasures. Originally created in 1914, the Rock Garden is now ready to inspire a new generation of visitors. And who better to officially open it but Newby’s long-time friend Gyles Brandreth 💚
