When I was 10 weeks pregnant, I made the decision to leave my employed job and go freelance.
Working for someone else was never part of my long-term plan and, if I’m honest, over the years I’ve become pretty unmanageable in that environment.
I’ve always struggled to be a “yes” person, and my honesty has landed me in trouble more than once. There have been plenty of times when I could have gone along with things I didn’t believe in or stayed quiet when my values were being challenged, but that just isn’t who I am.
Being pregnant came with its worries. How was I going to grow a human and a business at the same time? What if it didn’t take off? What if I ended up putting extra financial pressure on my husband while trying to build something from scratch?
But today, as I stand here in my own branded T-shirt, on my way to a content shoot that came to me through word of mouth, it hit me, MUMS can do anything.
I’m never going to shrink myself to fit into spaces that weren’t made for me, and I hope my little girl grows up knowing she never has to either.
Thank you to everyone who has shown me support, love, and respect along the way. It means more than you know.
