It has been a busy week this week as I started work for an exciting new client, Noah's Ark Nursery Hebburn. I'll be working with them on a monthly basis to keep their website up to date, keep their audience engaged on social media and send out news stories like the one below. I love their ethos and the team are so passionate their work, which really shines through.

A nursery is celebrating a successful first year after seeing rapid growth – despite opening during the first national lockdown.

Do you plan your social media content? It might sound too time-consuming for a busy business owner, but you'll be surprised to know it can actually save you time.

By setting time aside to plan your social media content, you'll spend less time mindlessly scrolling and wondering what to post about. You won't panic-post any old nonsense, either.

You might find you come up with some great ideas when you set time aside to plan. All you need is a simple calendar-style spreadsheet. You can make it as basic or as detailed as you like.

My top tips for content planning are:

1. Add in any business anniversaries or events you have coming up
2. Research awareness days/weeks and key holidays that might be relevant to your business. For example, a florist could use Mother's Day as a hook to showcase products
3. Consider which format would work best for each piece of content you schedule. Do you have good quality images, or could you make a fun video? If it's a subject you can really delve into, do you have a blog function on your website that you could use?

There's no denying that this still takes time, though it's definitely worth the investment. If you're simply too busy and need some help with your content plan, get in touch and we can have a chat about how I could help.

What is the benefit of having a blog on your website?

When you think of a blog, what comes to mind? You might imagine a beauty blogger sharing their favourite mascaras, or a mummy blogger talking about nappy brands, and think that's not relevant to your business.

Blogs don't have to be personal opinions or sharing intimate details. They can be used on your business website to share news, important information, or useful and interesting content that will drive an audience to your website. You can comment on what's happening in your industry or talk about lessons you have learned.

You can share your blog through other marketing channels such as email newsletters and social media - driving people to your website.

If blogging sounds like a tool you'd like to explore, feel free to get in touch and we can chat it through.

Who am I and what do I do? That's a good question...

I'm Sam, I'm based in the North East of England and I've worked in marketing and PR for over a decade. I graduated with a degree in journalism, and writing and sharing stories are my passion.

I've got experience in using lots of different marketing tools, but here's an idea of what I can offer:
> Marketing audit - taking a look at your current marketing tools, and evaluating how they are working for you
> Helping you to come up with a new marketing strategy and content plan
> Writing blogs for your website
> Writing your website copy
> Writing email newsletters
> Writing social media content
> PR - getting your story in the media

If you want to get the word out about your business, feel free to get in touch for an informal chat.

I've not had much time to post since setting up my business page, but sharing the first piece of coverage for my first client seems as good an occasion as any! The Early Teacher is an online toy shop that focuses on learning through play, filled with educational and eco-friendly toys. Take a look: www.theearlyteacher.com

A mum has channeled her teaching expertise into opening an online shop for educational and eco-friendly toys.
