Our very own Jake Dickens and Caroline Allard recently attended the two-day Digital Health World Conference at the Kensington Conference and Events Centre in London.

The event hosted insightful discussions on key areas like the intersection of technology and healthcare, the evolution of virtual clinical trials, emerging trends in the digital health landscape and the latest advancements in medical technology, eHealth, telehealth and more.

With November at an end, we're taking a moment to reflect on our 'A New MENtality' campaign.

We would like to say a big thank you to our team members and external contributors, who bravely shared their personal stories, navigating topics such as societal expectations influenced by social media, enduring lifelong effects of LGBTQIA+ bullying, the complexities of divorce and separation, and the challenges faced by individuals dealing with neurodiverse diagnoses.

This campaign aimed not only to spotlight the struggles but also to inspire change.

The shocking statistics and expert insights shared throughout the month underscore the urgency to reshape societal attitudes and ensure that men have access to the support they need. We believe in a future where every man feels empowered to prioritise his mental well-being without fear or hesitation.

The conversation doesn't end here; we are committed to raising awareness and fostering a new culture of compassion and understanding for all men all year round. 🧔

As we near the conclusion of our ā€˜a new MENtality’ series, we share Graham’s journey, as he describes how being a neurodivergent individual has impacted his mental health.

For those with autism, dyspraxia and ADHD, there is evidence of greater rates of depression and anxiety co-occurring. Throughout our conversation, Graham discusses the impact of his son’s diagnosis with Autism and ADHD and how this has caused him to reflect on his own experiences from his childhood and today.

Thank you, Graham for sharing your story with us. Listen to Graham’s story below

Men showcase a diverse range of coping strategies.

Many find solace in opening up to friends, family, or professionals, however, for a lot of men, talking about their problems is tough.

Whether it's the rhythm of a solo jog, the camaraderie of team sports, or the discipline of a gym session, exercise is one of the most popular stress-relief methods for men.

Reflecting on findings from Mind's 'Get It Off Your Chest,' report, it's evident that while some progress has been made in helping men comfortable seeking help for their mental health, challenges persist.

Full report: https://lnkd.in/evUtuBY

The findings show an increased number of men experiencing mental health problems, emphasising the need for continued efforts to ensure men can access tailored support, such as counselling, therapy, support groups, and workplace employee assistance programs.

If you're seeking assistance, consider reaching out to reputable organisations like Mind, , or local mental health services for valuable support and guidance.

There has long been a link between men’s mental health and exercise.

Exercise offers numerous health perks, with studies showing that it can lower the risk of depression by up to 30%, but with social media’s influence on the fitness industry, is there a darker side of excessive fitness habits and what impact is it having on men's mental well-being?

Did you know up to 40% of those with body dysmorphic disorder are men? This condition, and forms of it such as bigorexia, represents the lesser-known issue of exercise addiction in men.

The rise in extreme fitness influencers and the portrayal of unrealistic body ideals contribute to this trend. We want to tackle the misconceptions head-on.

Our blog sheds light on how exercise addiction affects men's mental health exploring the complex link between exercise, body image, and men's mental well-being: https://onyxhealth.com/blog-bigorexia/

We look at bigorexia, its telltale signs and how to find a healthy, sustainable approach to fitness and exercise.

Separation after a marriage can be a very challenging time, particularly when there are children involved.

We’d like to introduce our guest contributor Mark, who has taken the time to tell us about his experience with mental health challenges following his divorce.

The importance of seeking help and support during such a big life change is crucial; it can change your whole outlook on life. But, as Mark explains, it is important to do it the way that is right for you.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Mark. You can watch the full story below.

The breakdown of a marriage can have a lasting impact on a man’s life.

According to BetterHelp, men are at greater risk of developing major depressive disorder for the first time after a divorce than other genders.

Anxiety often increases in men with the feeling of instability and less certainty.

If you’re struggling to come to terms with a recent life change, remember that you’re not alone. There are ways to help you through this: talking to loved ones or a mental health professional will allow you to not feel isolated.

In our latest New MENtality video, we sat down with our very own Ryan Gibson, as he bravely shared his experiences, delving into the enduring effects of bullying within the LGBTQIA+ community at school and the impact it had on his life not only during his school days, but to this day.

Research from the CDC reveals that gay and bisexual men face higher chances of several mental health conditions, including generalised anxiety disorder.

It's crucial to recognise that the issue goes beyond statistics. Bullying, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community, leaves lasting scars and we want to emphasise the importance of open conversations for understanding and support, urging everyone not to suffer in silence.

For those grappling with mental health challenges within the LGBTQIA+ community, remember, you're not alone. Support is available. Organisations like Switchboard, a community-driven support group run by LGBTQIA+ volunteers, and Stonewall, a dedicated resource for those navigating their identities in schools, offer invaluable assistance to those struggling.

Did you know that gay and bisexual men are four times as likely to attempt su***de compared to the general population?

Embracing diversity includes recognising the unique mental health challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, and the alarming statistics in our video highlight the intersectionality of mental health challenges and the LGBTQIA+ community.

As we advocate for mental health awareness, let's remember championing 'a new MENtality' also strives to support all individuals facing mental health challenges.
