SLB Graphics & Prints Hello. I'm Sara. πŸ‘‹πŸ» I'm a graphics designer and freelancer living and working in Newcastle, England. Check out my work on Instagram, too!

I'm a digital designer and artist with a passion for creating fine arts and digital graphics. I do intend sell my work as limited prints, but until the logistics are sorted, this will page will simply exist as a blog where I display my most recent graphics and illustrations.

What an incredible opportunity to interview such a truly talented artist! Emily Ward is a north-east artist who creates stunning national landscape paintings.

For my final project of the year, I'm going all out on a mammoth project where I'm developing a HE student magazine for Mandela, Newcastle College University Centre. I could have easily copied and pasted content from the Internet or other articles, but I'm a bit old fashioned and wanted to make something precious in my student years.

Graphic design areas covered in the magazine are:
β€’ Branding: Identity & Design
β€’ Layout Design
β€’ Editorial Design
β€’ Art Directing
β€’ Logo Design
β€’ User Experience Design & Content Design/Editing
β€’ Adobe software: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator

The entire magazine will be released for viewing (and critiquing!) by May 16th, along with my 2025 portfolio.

Thank you for the support, and a big shout out again to ❀️

That's it! All five packages for my National Trust brand SuperNaturals, designed to invite younger generations to National Trust venues by enticing them with collectable facts about the supernatural myths and legends of its sites. Tomorrow's agenda is writing and final prototyping.

This is why its important to prototype your work. A few things were backwards, and details like that are really important in the realm of design.

I turned everything that was upside-down the right way and added additional information to the packs that were missing: storage instructions, multipack declaration, and a few other finer details.

Flick through to see the finished and final product for the single pack of my assignment: National Trust SuperNaturals.

Here they are: my assignment proposal for the National Trust (SuperNaturals, single pack). Designed to introduce and invite younger generations to its sites with facts about supernatural myths and legends in the areas.

All four flavours are done and ready. Tomorrow I'm going to fine-tune everything. Check for any details or trademarks that are missing; things like that. I'll also be doing the multipack packaging. It won't take long now that the bulk of the work in complete. We're in the home stretch!

For those who don't know what this product is, allow me to catch you up:
I was asked to produce food packaging for the National Trust as part of my degree. My proposal was an all-natural ingredient bonbon, and its packaging would contain some sort of *alternative* fact (a legend, myth, or supernatural sighting) about a random National Trust site. Hence the brand name "SuperNaturals". This would be a means to attract younger generations to National Trust sites, or at least provide another reason to visit besides historic value and education.

First image is the wireframe for the proposed single box. Second is the multipack. Big things have changed since creating these wireframes: the mascot is now gone. It became a redundant part of the packaging, even though I'm still in love with the idea of a Dryad mascot for the National Trust.

We now have the acorn shield!

The acorn shield is accented by an 'S' shaped dragon and acorn leaves, as well as the brand name. I have to say, its pretty gorgeous to look at, but opinions and feedback from anyone is always, always welcome!

Tomorrow, I'm colouring the boxes and finalising the information on those boxes, ensuring everything is accounted for and fine-tuned.

Monday is the writing part of my assignment. Boo.

Then on Wednesday, I intend to prepare prototypes of the packaging. Actual, tangible evidence of my work. I'm really looking forward to updating everyone on the progress of this assignment. Updates coming soon!

I'm currently creating a candy brand for the National Trust.

I'm designing the packaging for a large bonbon made from natural ingredients, contained in a recyclable box. If you've ever seen a Lowney's 'Cherry Blossom' from Canada, you get the idea.

National Trust sites are steeped in legend, myth, and occasionally, spooky folklore! Its untapped information that's never really discussed when we visit these sites. Visitors are primarily informed about historic values, and old crap can get pretty boring (for some).

The idea of the packaging is to attract younger generations to National Trust sites by introducing a cute supernatural character (a Dryad) who provides a random supernatural fact about one of the National Trust sites upon opening the box, and an all natural ingredients sweet.

This is an early hi-fi wireframe. Once fully fleshed, its going to be printed on the box dimensions in image 2.
