December 2024 feels like a long time ago now.
Since launching, Local Heroes has put out over 70 podcast episodes.
Seventy conversations with the people who actually make the North East what it is - the entrepreneurs, artists, changemakers, grafters and the everyday people.
That's not a content schedule.
That's an archive of a region telling its own story, in its own voice.
But here's the thing worth being clear about, because people often get it wrong about us.
We don't sell podcasts.
We don't sell films, photography, events, campaigns or exhibitions.
Those are just tools.
What we actually do is engagement through storytelling - bringing people and communities into the heart of a place, capturing authentic voices, and creating something that lasts.
There's a method to it.
We discover the stories.
We engage communities so they can take part, not just look on.
And we leave a legacy: archives, platforms, heritage, stories and experiences that the community actually owns.
That's not a one-off campaign.
It's a blueprint - and it's working.
Stories From Shields, Breaking Bread, The Gaderung at Ad Gefrin, Sheepfolds Sunday Market to Hands On The Wheel and Out and About.
Rooted in place, in shared history, in the simple idea that the North East's story is worth celebrating properly.
Placemaking 101.
When more people start telling the region's story this way, the whole region is better for it.
And we're not slowing down.
South Shields Market is next, working with the community to build something built to last and on existing foundations.
We've developed a slate of event concepts linked to the North East's Region of Gastronomy bid - and the Stories From series, capturing the people and places, one community at a time.
And - we're just getting started.
