If you're a local business one of the best things you can do to improve your locally based rankings is to post on Google My Business.
So many businesses ignore this but instead are happy to post on social platforms without results whatsoever.
By doing this one simple task in addition to your social media posting, you will see an increase in search engine traffic and probably enquiries.
Google My Business also functions as a social media platform, with the ability to post updates and informative articles. To have your posts show up on the Google search results page, make sure you're doing it regularly. And when people open up your profile, the new posts will show first. Here are some ideas:

Make sure to update your Google My Business profile information when you make changes, such as changing your regular store hours or what you're offering.

Announce new products at your local business to alert your customers, such as new menu items for a restaurant or a new treatment for a beauty salon. You can also advertise new services and updates to keep customers up-to-date.

Running promotions to attract new customers is another way to increase sales and get more interest in your business. Promotions such as discounts or special offers, two for one deals, or free shipping are all things you can add to this section. Add a catchy title and the valid period for the offer. Google will even add a “View Offer” button to these types of posts.
Events.
If you're hosting a local event, post pictures and videos to your Google My Business profile to drum up interest. It doesn't have to be a one-off event either, if you do a regular event on a weekly or monthly basis, you can add them to the post type in advance and google will include this and show it in local search results related to your event.
