We appear to have a new member of the Brightbulb team… 💡

Fi’s recent Jellycat obsession is slowly but surely taking over the office, and naturally this little guy was always going to find a home here.

To be fair, he’s very on-brand. His contribution to the workload so far has been questionable, but morale is high. 😂

At this rate, we may need to start factoring Jellycat storage into the next office expansion.

Another part of our work with Heatstar Ltd coming to life.

We recently produced a new corporate video for the team as part of the wider overhaul of their marketing, brand and digital assets.

Rather than simply showing what Heatstar does, we wanted the video to capture the people, expertise and personality behind the business, while giving them a strong piece of content that can work across their website, social media, presentations and wider marketing.

From planning and filming through to editing and final production, it’s been great to bring another element of the Heatstar story together.

Take a look at the finished film.

Really enjoyed networking at Caffe Isola yesterday afternoon where we had a chance to chat to Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries Indigo Graphics and Island Echo amongst others.

We also got to show people the new WightExplorer app and gain some valuable feedback from the locals. :)

We’re proud to announce the launch of Wight Explorer! 📱

Created by Shane, Fi and Matt from the Brightbulb team, WightExplorer started with a simple idea: make it easier to discover what’s happening across the Isle of Wight.

From live music and festivals to sport, theatre, family activities, arts, culture and local events, the new app puts Island events right at your fingertips. It’s been fantastic to see an idea developed within our team turn into a brand new Island business, and this is only the beginning for Wight Explorer.

Wight Explorer is available to download free on the Apple App store and Google Play, or visit wightexplorer.com/app to download.

Great to work with the team at Solent Sky Services recently on a new video. Amazing what you can do with a few drones and some creativity. Really looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Winter break room sorted. 🎱

With the colder months on the way, we wanted to make sure the team could properly step away from their screens, switch off for a bit and spend some time together. So our new break room is now complete with pool table, darts, bar (for after hours 🤣) and plenty of space for some healthy team competition.

We put a lot of emphasis on creating a great place to work at Brightbulb. Sometimes that means investing in technology and great working spaces, and sometimes it means recognising that people need somewhere to stop working altogether.

Although judging by the competitive streak in some of the team, we're not sure how relaxing this is actually going to be...

There’s nothing quite like seeing something you’ve been developing move from a screen in the studio into the environment where it will actually be used. We’ve recently started developing a new digital portal for one of our manufacturing clients, designed to be used by employees directly on the shop floor.

That meant we needed to test the experience on something a little bigger than your average tablet! As a Giant Itab affiliate, we were able to get our hands on one of their latest 22-inch interactive displays and put the portal through its paces.

It’s given our development team a great opportunity to test the interface, responsiveness and overall user experience on the type of hardware it will ultimately be used on. A nice example of why web development isn’t just about building something that works. It’s about understanding where, how and by whom it’s going to be used.

It also gave us a chance to look over our own website on the big screen. 👀

A website launch with a lot more going on behind the scenes. We’re really proud to launch the new My Auction House platform, one of the more technically complex web development projects our team has been working on recently.

This isn’t simply an auction website.

We’ve developed a multisite auction platform that allows individual operators to run their own branded local auction websites, all powered by the wider My Auction House system. The system handles the functionality you’d expect from a serious auction platform, including auctions and lots, customer accounts, bidding, watchlists and the processes required to manage online auctions.

One of the first sites running on the new platform is Isle of Wight Auctions, which has also moved across to the new technology while retaining the familiar experience its customers already know.

It’s a great example of the type of development we love at Brightbulb. Taking a business idea, understanding how it needs to scale and building the technology underneath it to make that possible.
