Teign u3a members had a very enjoyable Dartmoor walk today, starting at Venford Reservoir.

As is common on Dartmoor, the weather was very changeable with drizzle, sunshine and wind, but the views were spectacular.

We met up afterwards at the Dartmoor Halfway Inn for a lovely lunch and chat.

Teign u3a offers many opportunities to join walking groups - some are more challenging than others and usually include the chance to enjoy lunch or tea and cake. The Dartmoor walks are very popular, we are lucky enough to have a very experienced and knowledgeable guide who shares lots of information on the way.

News from our Questers Group

A cloudy start turned into a beautiful sunny morning out in the mid-Devonshire countryside, for our trip to the DevonShire Horse Farm. And what an excellent visit it was! Something the 35 of us who were there won't forget in a hurry! To see and learn so much about shire horses, that are kept and worked in the traditional manner, was a real treat. A further walk around the farm, through a hay meadow and the woods where charcoal is burnt, past the field with Devon Red Ruby cattle and to wood-carving shed, then to their market garden, gave us a real insight into what the farmer has to do in the 21st century to keep traditions alive.

Our Canasta group is restarting!

We hope that old and new members will come and join the group.

We will be playing on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Courtenay Centre - even if you have never played before it is easy to pick up, there will always be members to help and guide you.

A group of Teign u3a members enjoyed a private afternoon film showing at the Bovey Paradiso Arts Centre. We heard about progress being made on the building works. When completed, the centre will have a cafe restaurant, meeting and artist facilities and a space where comedy, music and arts can be enjoyed by local people.
Josh Widdecombe has recently become one of the patrons.

We have many walking groups for all abilities with some brilliant leaders. 🥾

A day of happier memories today as our Nordic Walking Group members gathered at Haldon Forest to remember our Leader Linda, who is sadly missed.

Teign u3a's Garden Group enjoyed a guided tour of the beautiful grounds of Rowcroft Hospice, Torquay. Majestic trees and tranquil gardens on an unexpected sunny afternoon was enjoyed by all with ideas buzzing as to how members of Teign u3a could contribute our time to volunteer and assist with the maintenance of the grounds.
