Behind every agency that shows up well online, there’s usually a brilliant team working away behind the scenes 🧡

For us, that team is Zinc Digital.

Earlier this month, Jessica Pilkington caught up with Jordan and Rob for one of our regular check-ins. Zinc built our website and continue to support us with SEO, paid social, analytics, and ongoing web development. It's because of their work, that we are visible to all the incredible SME's charities, and non-profits across the UK.

What we value most about Zinc, is that they genuinely understand our business and what we’re trying to achieve. They don’t just provide digital services, they help us move forward.

We couldn't recommend Zinc highly enough if you are looking for a digital partner who genuinely gets it, we look forward to seeing what they do next ⭐️

Good conversation, a working lunch, and the chance to welcome a new face to a fantastic local team ⭐️

Earlier this month, Jessica caught up with Sara Homer, CEO of Brackmills Industrial Estate BID Northampton, for a really positive conversation about what’s ahead for the BID and the businesses it supports across Northamptonshire.

We also got a chance to meet the newest member of the Brackmills BID team - welcome aboard, Shabana! You’ve joined an organisation doing genuinely important work for one of the county’s biggest and busiest business communities.

We always love getting the chance to spend time catching up with clients, and chats like this remind us of just how much is happening across the county. Lots to look forward to 🧡

Working with clients who have genuinely exciting stories to tell is always so special 🧡

Earlier this month, Jessica Pilkington visited Commsave Credit Union in Northampton to chat all things PR, explore creative ideas for the future, and learn more about the incredible work they do.

As they are approaching a major milestone birthday, real momentum is building around what's next, and we're so excited to be a part of the journey.

Commsave have been offering Northamptonshire and the wider UK an ethical alternative to high-cost borrowing for years. We are so grateful to be helping spread their message along the way.

Keep your eyes peeled… big things are coming 👀🧡

It's time to shift your perspective.

In today's world, you aren't only competing with other local charities, you're competing with Netflix, TikTok and breaking news alerts. You're fighting against everything else demanding attention in someone's pocket.

This realisation should flip your messaging strategy and keep you winning in the attention economy:

🧡 Instead of leading with the process, start with the outcomes you've achieved.

🧡 Don't throw around vague claims - stick to the numbers

🧡 Don't bombard your audiences with statistics - tell the stories behind them

🧡 Ask your audiences to complete specific actions - not just for general support

🧡 Post when your cause is the most urgent - timing is everything

Read our Curiosity Corner blog to learn more about how to get noticed in a world full of distractions: https://pilkington-comms.co.uk/curiosity/why-good-causes-get-ignored-and-how-to-fix-it/

What a treat for our Director this month 🧡

Jessica Pilkington had an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Delapré Abbey 's beautiful walled gardens, as well as a sneak peak at their £5 million heritage project. It was amazing to see the transformation in progress of the Abbey's old stables into a new hub for wellbeing, retail, and events.

Projects like this remind us why community spaces matters so much; investing in our heritage is really an investment in our local people.

Thank you to the team at Delapré Abbey for having us - the people of Northamptonshire have a lot to look forward to with many exciting times ahead.

We’ve been thinking a lot about AI lately 🤖

Not in a breathless, everything-is-changing way, but in a practical, what-actually-works-for-a-small-charity-comms-team way.
The honest answer? It’s useful in the right places, and useless in others.

Our latest Curiosity Corner blog breaks down exactly where it earns its keep - and where the human stuff still matters most.

Two weeks ago we launched "From Invisible to Unmissable" - a free workbook for charity and non-profit comms leads - and the response has been genuinely lovely.

If you’ve downloaded it: thank you. We’d love to hear which section was most useful, or what it surfaced for your organisation.

If you haven’t yet: it’s still there, still free, and still worth an hour of your time. Download at https://pilkington-comms.co.uk/invisible-to-unmissable/.

And if working through it has raised questions you’d like to talk through, a Curiosity Call with our Director Jessica is a good place to start. Free, 30 minutes, no sales pitch. Book at https://pilkington-comms.co.uk/contact-us/ or drop us a message here.

Did you know that a news article about your charity can appear higher in Google search results than your own website?

It happens because news organisations have built up years of trust with search engines that your website - however well-designed - simply can’t match overnight.

The good news: that same effect works in your favour. Every online article that mentions your organisation and links to your website is quietly building your credibility - with Google, with AI tools, and with anyone searching for organisations doing what you do.

Most charities don’t know this is happening. And most aren’t doing the simple things that would make it happen more.

Our free workbook covers this in Section 3 - including a ready-to-send email template that takes five minutes and directly improves your search visibility. Download free at https://pilkington-comms.co.uk/invisible-to-unmissable/

Quick question for anyone who works in - or leads - a charity, non-profit or social enterprise:

When did you last Google your own organisation?

Not just your name - but your cause and your geographical area together?

What came up?

We ask because the gap between what you expect to see and what actually appears is usually one of the most useful conversations we have with new clients.

Our free workbook - "From Invisible to Unmissable" - starts there.

Section 1 is a simple visibility audit you can run in under an hour, including an exercise to do with your trustees/directors.

Download it free at https://pilkington-comms.co.uk/invisible-to-unmissable/, or drop a comment and we’ll send it to you directly. 🧡
