A small food shop, an all day sewing session and a dress nearly finished, dog taken for a walk, a big shop, dinner cooked and it was nearly 10 when dinner was eaten...

So a quick abstract drawing at 11 is an achievement, not a failure. 💪

A semi-abstract poppy bookmark 💙💜

Black pen + a spritz of water = maggggic!

The colours are just stunning and I love the little rivulets of colour, like some distant planet's river deltas. And can you spot the little man there, in the detail, holding out his hand to a blue flower? Love love love love it!

I will come back to this one and define it ever so slightly, I think.

As soon as I settled down to paint NevillHoltEstate
gardens, I sprayed one of my papers and splattered some yellow on it with the intention of painting purple flowers on it. By the time it dried, I changed direction completely because these yellow beauties looked like they wanted to be drawn!

I really don't know what these little seeds (?) were but they called to me - and to my Derwent InkTense pencils with a generous amount of water. I think this one might actually make it to a wall in my house for a change. It is my favourite painting of the day!

I love poppies - wild, cultivated, ornamental...pink, red, yellow, orange... I don't care, they are all fabulous. Maybe that's why this painting got so much love from the lovely visitors at the Nevill Holt Festival which kindly hosted a few Northants & Rutland Open Studios - because they were painted from the heart 🩷💚❤️

The bag is packed - I promised myself to only take a few basics but I overpacked, as usual. Everything from umbrella to a sun hat and a bag full of art supplies ready....
