I don't waste my time on Facebook.
I know - as a strategic marketing consultant you'd expect me to be all over it. But here's the thing: I don't waste time on platforms that don’t work for my business strategy — and you shouldn’t either. 🤷♀️
Don't get me wrong - Facebook can be a great marketing channel for the right kind of business. If you're seeing engagement, building a community, and attracting customers, then keep going! But if you’re spending hours on Facebook only to get crickets in return, it's probably time to rethink your strategy. This could mean refining your content and approach, or even considering whether it's the right place for you at all.
For me, Facebook isn’t the best place to engage with my audience. That doesn't mean I’m ignoring social media altogether — it just means I’m using my time where it counts. My Facebook acts as portfolio of my services and a platform for paid ads, and I do pop the occasional update on here too. But most of the time I don't touch it at all, because it doesn't fit with my business model. My approach might be different if I had my own marketing team, or if there were significantly more hours in a day. But it's all about being realistic about what's achievable and focussing accordingly.
As a small business, you know how crucial it is to use your limited time and energy wisely. Strategy might not be at the top of your long to-do list, but nailing it now will seriously pay off in future. You can save both time and money by shifting to a proactive approach to your marketing - and it will help you move forward with confidence and positivity.
If you're feeling bogged down and want help, that's what I'm here for. I can support you to build a marketing strategy that works for you and your business, coach you towards marketing success, or just be a brain to pick for your marketing conundrums.
