Life lately.

Lots of joy meeting new colleagues, spreading the word at grassroots level about the impact work my Alternative Provision does across Greater Manchester, and best of all, helping young people realise how darn brilliant they are and what bright futures they have ahead of them.

I hope life has been treating you kindly 🤎🙌🏽

Pockets of joy ✨🤎

Work for me over the last couple of weeks has been intense, tiring, and oh so fulfilling.

📸Pictures 1-4:

Are of me and some of my team including my co-founder leading an interactive session with to showcase our social impact with neurodiverse young people. We love what we do with our STEAM led Alternative Provision.

📸 Pics 5-7 are of a week long digital news agency project I ran with neurodiverse young people at a school in Altrincham. Love the work I get to do with

My fave picture is no 6. I’d just exclaimed I was ‘such a millenial’ with my pose. The reaction of the young man next to me is 👌🏽

Peace out for the weekend. I’m done in! 🫠😆

‘Different to what is normal of expected’

Earlier this week I was described as peculiar.

The comment came from a lovely young person who I was chatting with at a careers day event.

They weren’t being malicious.

They were in fact, answering my question.

The careers day was based around the topic of ‘what’s my job’. Using detective work involving observation skills and cunning questions, their objective was to find out what I did for a living.

Part way through the questions I hinted they might want to consider my clothing.

What I was wearing might help them indicate what industry or at least skills one might need to do my job.

Clothing is a powerful statement. Think of the hours of planning and consideration that go into what a Prime Minister wears. Or what you might choose to wear ahead of a big presentation.

What you wear says a lot about how you’re choosing to show up at that time, in that space with those people.

It speaks to your energy.

It reflects your attitude towards the event itself.

So, I chose to show up with my puff ball dress, Yayoi Kusama polka dot socks, and happy face earrings.

I was showing up as someone who loves what they do, doesn’t want to fit in a box, considers themselves creative, and on that day I wanted to reflect the joy of choosing a career that I love.

So if that makes me peculiar, I’ll take it ✨

🌟 Since returning to Insta post festive period, I’ve noticed several content creators making the leap from Instagram.

The struggle with limited reach, algorithm frustrations, and the content creation treadmill has led them to explore more intimate platforms, often Substack.

🙅🏽‍♀️They’re sick of creating content that reaches a small portion of their community.

🙅🏽‍♀️They’re fed up of pandering to the algorithm.

🙅🏽‍♀️They’re tired of running on the content creation treadmill.

As we step into a new year, I’m curious about YOUR plans in this ever-evolving digital realm.

Are you committed to staying put on Instagram and other social channels?

Contemplating a shift in strategy, or maybe even exploring new platforms? 🤔💬

What are your plans for this space?

Talk to me.

P.S I miss it being warm enough to wear shorts.

🌟 Navigating the Social Media Realm with Purpose and Authenticity! 🚀

That’s my jam here at Wild and Form Digital.

I have always and will continue to embrace the belief that genuine connections outweigh algorithmic whims.

Instead of things slowing down towards the end of the year, they appear to be in fast forward mode.

I was only saying to my social enterprise business partner earlier today, that I feel like all I ever do it literally run around at all times.

Anyway, here’s a little snapshot of what have I been up to behind the scenes:

✨ Interviewing for the first of many roles over in my co-owned, STEAM led impact organisation. If you know anyone looking to make an impact with young people in the digital space, send them my way!

✨ Moved into our new HQ and second office. It’s got original parquet flooring people 😍

✨ I’m booked in to work with more universities for their New Year Careers and Employability sessions.

✨ We’re in the final stretches of the home renovation. Cutting things very fine to 🎅🏻

✨And I’m not hating the new but old but new focus from Insta on the iconic filter. I’ve tried Paris on the photos here. Back in the day I used to be mainly Nashville 🫣

Tell me, how are you doing. What are you up to?

‘Passion, more passion, more energy, more energy.’

🤎Passion + energy, two aspects that I have an abundance of when it comes to discussing my co-owned social impact organisation.

And having a setting like the creative space that is Home Manchester, just makes public speaking events, all the more exciting.

A big thank you, to and for inviting me and my awesome business partner in to share our 5 Lessons in Social Entprenreurship with your community.

Your BHM event was wonderfully warm and family like.

Next time we’ll be sure to stay for the delicious smelling food too 😋🤤

“Owning your brand starts with embracing your whole self, acknowledging your talents, and unashamedly stepping into the world loving who you are and what you stand for.”

⭐️This was my opening statement for my ‘Brand You’ talk I gave to students during the Tameside Arts and Tech event hosted by the Rio Ferdinand Foundation.

✨They delivered an all-female tech & arts careers event at Tameside College to help connect local girls to industry professionals from different sectors.

👌🏽35 girls aged 12-18 from Greater Manchester attending 7 different workshops including me🤎

I was thrilled to have been asked to share some insights into how I built my brand, and tips for how they could get started crafting theirs.

Feedback on my session from young people included:

💬“Rubbi’s workshop was really informative and insightful. It got my thinking about my own ‘brand’ and how I present myself to others, which is really important when getting my first job.” Ilween, aged 17.

💬“I found Rubbi’s session really helpful and encouraging – as well as brands / social media we spoke about other life skills, and tips that would help us in any job.” Glady’s, aged 14.

➡️If you’re planning your careers, employability and entrepreneurship events for your school, college, or university, contact me to ask me about my engaging talks.

‼️Side note: On my social channels, I talk about women – especially black and brown women – being paid their dues.

So, here I am unashamedly walking the walk: I will only consider paid speaking opportunities.

This time last week I got up, got dressed, and felt fancy at Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsey.

Today, I’m battling dust (we’re about half way through it all) dealing with a newly developing rash on my ears 👂🏽and desperate for some self care.

Keeping things real.

How’s your week been?

There’s always lots of intense media and information on our feeds. None more so than at the moment.

I also know from the DM chats we’re having that many of you are feeling run down. Plenty of coughs 😷 and 🤧 sneezes going around.

Protect your energy using the above prompts.

I also want to acknowledge that to be able to do any of the above is a privilege.

Stay safe. Protect your mental, spiritual, and physical wellness.

Big love, Rx
