Who was the winner of last night's debate on ITV? Twitter sentiment suggests it was Nicola Sturgeon who came out on top. Twitter positive sentiment was at 65.7% for the SNP leader, compared to 59.4% for Boris Johnson.

The campaigns are employing fear to sway people's votes. We detected very similar levels of fear on Twitter for both in May so far: 18.3% in tweets about and 16.2% in tweets for .

However, Vote Leave is generating a lot more conversations on Twitter, with almost twice as many mentions as Britain Stronger in Europe. This is also evident in the sentiment levels for the two campaigns.

The Out campaign also has slightly higher positive sentiment on average at 73.4%, compared to 67.8% for the In campaign.
