My weighted tuning forks are some of my favourite tools in Sonic Bodywork particularly 64 Hz and 96 Hz, which I often use together directly on the body. And there's a lovely reason these two work together.
96 Hz is exactly 1.5 × 64 Hz, creating a 3:2 frequency ratio the Perfect Fifth, one of the simplest and most consonant intervals in music.
Perfect fifths are often experienced as stable, open and harmonious. I love using the pair together to create a deeply tactile, grounding sensory experience two different vibrations that feel beautifully connected.
A little extra geekery 🤓: 64 Hz also has a genuine history in clinical neurology, where calibrated 64 Hz tuning forks are used to assess vibration sensation and peripheral nerve function. I often use tuning forks targeted on the bodies nerve map.
I also use 136.1 Hz, often known as the OM frequency within contemporary sound-healing traditions. And no, I'm not going to tell you that 136.1 Hz will realign your entire existence before you've even got your shoes back on. 😂
I work with clients living with fibromyalgia, arthritis, persistent pain and physical sensitivity, and some have reported noticeable pain relief during or after our sessions. That's their experience not a claim that a particular frequency treats their condition. For me, the interesting bit is much simpler:
Sound doesn't just have to be heard. It can be felt.
Two forks.
Two frequencies.
One perfect fifth.
And we notice how your body responds. 🎵
