Thanks so much to everyone who has helped to share a really important free heart screening event for young people in Sully this weekend.
The screening, which is provided by Calon Hearts, is in memory of Kory Russell who tragically died while competing in The Royal Parks half marathon in October last year, aged just 25.
The screening event, for people aged 16-26, at Sully Sports and Social Club, South Road marks the beginning of a series of activities the family hopes will raise awareness of hidden heart conditions and encourage more young people to access early testing.
Rhi and Matt Russell, Kory’s parents, said, “We want something positive to come from our heartbreak, and offering these screenings in his home village feels like the right way to honour him. If even one young person is protected because of this event, then Kory’s legacy will be helping others, just as he always did.”
Every week in the UK, 12 seemingly healthy young people die from an undiagnosed heart condition. A simple ECG can detect many of these conditions early, allowing for treatment, monitoring, or lifestyle adjustments that significantly reduce risk.

Huge thanks to Kory’s amazing family and the media including BBC Radio Wales, WalesOnline and Penarth Times who have helped to spread the word.

Health Matters: Your Questions 🚨

Would you like to be in the room as the health and care spokespeople from Wales’s main political parties set out their plans ahead of the 2026 Senedd election? This is your chance to grab one of the final audience places.
Only a handful of seats remain for Health Matters: Your Questions, a cross‑party discussion in Cardiff on 12 February led by the Bevan Commission. Representatives from each party will outline their manifesto priorities for the future of health and care in Wales — and you could be there to hear it first‑hand.
We’re inviting people to apply for the remaining audience places. As spaces are limited, attendance will be confirmed through a short selection process based on the demographic information you provide.

🌟 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Wales' first-ever Stroke Technology Symposium yesterday!
We were proud to bring together stroke teams, digital innovators, and healthcare leaders to tackle real-world challenges and explore how technology can transform stroke care across Wales. The day was filled with inspiring conversations, knowledge sharing, and a collective drive to improve patient outcomes.
We’re excited to see how these ideas evolve with the right support and funding.
It was a privilege to provide communications support for the event and to work with our great partners , Welsh Government MediWales, Life Sciences Hub Wales Stroke Implementation Network, NHS Wales Performance and Improvement and SWW Regional Joint Committee.
And of course, no event would be complete without a sighting of Siôn Charles iconic pink hat—always a pleasure🎩

Roll out of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) in Wales, which is making a big difference to patients and healthcare staff, continues to gather pace.

Boots is the second pharmacy supplier to have its electronic prescription technology approved by Digital Health and Care Wales for use in its community pharmacies across the country. This follows completion of successful testing at its store in Llanfairfechan, Conwy, in partnership with Plas Menai Surgery.

EPS allows GP surgeries to send prescriptions electronically to the patient’s choice of community pharmacy, without the need for the green prescription form.

It will make things easier and safer for patients and healthcare staff in Wales, as well as helping the environment by reducing the millions of paper prescription forms currently printed each year.
