In late 2019 I started treatment for cancer, lost my hair and had radical surgery. I looked at clothes and had no idea what to buy. I decided to have my colours and style analysed and researched local Colour Me Beautiful consultants. I had a fun session with a lovely consultant and left feeling vibrant and confident. These shades are already in the shops, but as a "cool" I'm looking forward to brighter colours.

Some of us have lots to look forward to next season, with earthy greens and rich chocolate tones featuring strongly. These colours are ideal for those who suit a warm undertone and don’t need a high level of clarity.

Invest in these shades as beautiful wardrobe neutrals - think a wool coat or cosy knit, or use them to refresh an existing outfit with a scarf, top or other seasonal accessory.

Leave trends behind. Wear what belongs to you!
It’s tempting to get carried away when the new season’s colours start to appear. Olive, royal purple and aubergine are just a few of the shades making an entrance. But while they may be on trend, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be your most flattering colours.

Another prediction that I'm excited about 😀

Teal is predicted to be one of the trending colours for next season 💙💚

What makes teal particularly special in the tonal colour system is that it’s a universal colour, meaning everyone can wear it! But, as with every colour, there are lots of different shades, from very light through to deep. So, check your swatch wallet and find your perfect teal. And don’t forget the colour guidance your consultant gave you. How you combine teal can make or break an outfit.

Think beyond depth too. Consider whether you’re mixing it with warm or cool undertones, and whether your colours are clear or muted. These little details can make such a difference to how harmonious your outfit looks.

And the best bit? Teal is incredibly versatile and can almost be treated as a neutral. A teal wool coat, for example, may be a higher-ticket purchase, but it’s one you’ll find works beautifully with so many pieces already in your wardrobe. For example a Soft could combine teal with cocoa (wow), while a Cool could add rose pink (stunning).

A great investment colour that can bring your wardrobe to life whether it’s trending or not!

It’s prime sale time right now, making it the perfect opportunity to update your wardrobe for next season. Purple is tipped to be one of the biggest colours this autumn and, interestingly, it features in every tonal palette. The difference is in how you wear it, as the most flattering shades and combinations vary from one palette to another.

It’s well worth scouting the sales for purple pieces that you can layer, such as long or short sleeve T shirts, lightweight knits or even accessories like bags. They’ll all give your wardrobe an instant lift and help you transition into the new season. Remember, it’s not about starting again, more about updating the pieces you already have.

This afternoon, I had the absolute privilege of giving a presentation to some of the wonderful residents Hilton Park Care Home in Bottisham. I thoroughly enjoyed describing the ins and outs of the Colour Me Beautiful system, explaining the different dominants and how they can be used to enhance one's natural beauty. Each attendee received a handy, personalised guide to their 10 best colours, which I hope they'll find incredibly useful in their daily lives. I was more than happy to answer their questions and provide additional insights, and I was thrilled to see the curiosity on their faces as they learned more about the world of colours. It was truly a heartwarming experience, and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to share my knowledge with such a lovely group of people.

A quick shout-out to Boost Innovations to say how thankful I am for their light and airy breast forms in the current heatwave. My NHS-issued breast form is made from silicone, which gets uncomfortable in these temperatures.
