The 600-year-old Langport Arms in Somerset has completed its restoration after a car struck the front of the Grade II listed building in 2024, bringing down the stone pillars and collapsing the balcony in what the head barman described as feeling like an earthquake.

The rebuild required planning permission and approval from multiple organisations before work could begin, with clearance finally granted in May 2025 to revert to the original Ham Stone used in the building's construction, sourced from a Somerset quarry and cut over a period of six months before the new pillars could be made.

Stonemason Luke Grafton worked to match the original detail as closely as possible from the dimensions of the surviving porch, describing the most challenging moment as lifting the one-tonne stones into place, and the finished result has been described by staff as wonderful.

Right then. We took a big step forwards today in regards to the power in the restaurant. It's still going to be weeks but it's moving! ❤️ We are doing ALL we can every single day. Thank you all for the daily messages of support!

In the meantime we're putting out shirt sponsorship slot opportunities on a 12 month deal.2x chest spots (and 2x sleeve ones if there's interest). There was a slot on the back across both shoulders but I think that's gone.

We're aiming to be the premier burger spot in town. No one is offering what we will be so having all the team (4 currently) wearing the Higgsy's shirts with your logos on will get some decent exposure. There will be a LOT of local Peterborough customers eating with us and seeing your company. As well as featuring in bloggers and food challenge videos etc. we'll also be doing BIG discounts for sponsors on food and drinks. Also early opportunities to get in on special live music events fathers/mothers day tables. Christmas parties etc
