In January last year, we were approached by Plymouth Pavilions to help shape a new vision and mission. That quickly evolved into something bigger — a full rebrand and a new name.

A few months ago, we officially launched Plymouth Arena. Not without its moments though, including an unexploded bomb on the neighbouring site trying its best to derail things. 💣

It’s honestly been a dream project — the kind that comes together through trust, momentum and a shared belief in what it could become. From the work itself to seeing it roll out across the building, it’s been a proper team effort.

So, after 17 years and 5 months of being called Studio 51, 52 Studio, Studio 53, and occasionally mistaken for a nightclub, it felt like time to admit the name never quite stuck. What did stick however, was the work, the relationships and the way we collaborate.

We’ve always loved the Civic Centre, so it was a real privilege for us to be asked by to design a monstrous hoarding campaign - 230 metres of storytelling and colour, using the new Britain’s Ocean City branding created by the brilliant team at
We’re genuinely very excited about the plans taking shape for the Civic Centre (and Plymouth) – there’s a fantastic team in place to realise the building’s full potential. Dunno about you guys, but we can’t wait to see it unfold! ❤️👀✅

Neasden Control Centre collaboration with 51 Studio.

What happens when artificial intelligence is asked to predict its own impact on creativity? We put this question to ChatGPT, instructing it to craft a series of ad lines about how A.I. could disrupt, dilute, or even replace human creativity.

The result? A haunting, ironic, and eye-opening collection of words that NCC and 51 Studio. have turned into an illustrated graphic novel book. A book written by A.I. but designed by us—turning the very technology in question into both the critic and the medium.

We recently partnered with Sherford Community Land Trust to create a fresh, future-facing brand identity that captures the spirit of a growing community built on shared values. As the Trust entered a pivotal phase of development — welcoming its first members and elected directors — it needed a brand that would reflect its core purpose: bringing people together, stewarding land and buildings for the common good, and enabling collective action.
