It's always nice to see movies inspired by books, and more importantly it's nice to see films staying so true to the source material. I have not seen all of these, but Arrival was an incredible piece of science fiction, inspired by an incredibly clever story.

Looking for a movie to see this December? These book-to-movie adaptations look promising.

I feel that the story started well as it pulls the reader in, but can be difficult to keep up with who some of the characters are at the very beginning, such as Bina Simmons, Juman Simmons and Gina Crawford, as he was the second husband to Gina but shares the same surname as Bina. It is good tha the reader is thrown in as it makes for picturesque and a beautiful style of writing, although some minor description of words like vengeantism and the workings of the magic people can use might not go a miss, but as for the reasons that people can use the magic, should really be an authors choice to include.
