Do you live in the Local Authorities of Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Torfaen, and want to get your business on the internet. Then help is available to you from RCT Council.
Go to their website and look at their E.Commerce Grant (http://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/en/business/businesssupportandadvice/businessgrants/businessgrants.aspx ) and Local Investment Fund (LIF) (http://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/en/business/grants/businessgrants/localinvestmentfund.aspx) both are there to help get your business online. The E.Commerce Grant helps with the development of new or upgrading of existing website, with 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum of £2,000. LIF grants from £1,000 to £5,000 are available, based on 40% of the eligible project costs for the development of websites.

On discussing the fact that 40 % of Welsh SME’s don’t operate a website,

Google’s spokesperson, Laurian Clemence explained:
“You are really missing out if you can’t be found online. We do believe there are definitely more benefits than not. The key thing is that people who have their business online see their business grow four to eight times faster than those that don’t.”
“We realised that Wales was lagging behind in the adoption of web presences for SMEs. There is a lot of opportunity there to help them get a website for the first time or if they do have a website improve it.”
