Bang for buck, this stand design we designed & constructed at FIREX 2024 hits the mark!

Despite being a national & long established player in the cables market, BCC had not focused on exhibiting previously. With new product launches in fire retardant cables, we designed a booth that reintroduced BCC to audiences who may have known them copper cabling in other markets which they have been manufacturing since 1895!!

The event taking place today until Wednesday also incorporates IFSEC, Facilities Show and the Safety & Health show.

Cabin refurbishment update:

It’s been a little whilst since we posted how the refurbishment is coming along. We’ve done a fair bit and we are actually further forward than the posts suggest. Once we had repaired the integrity of the floor and prepared the aperture for the feature entrance, the next phase was to take advantage of the loading capabilities of the portakabin and build a storage deck to increase our storage capabilities, without the need to build expensive mezzanines.

The deck spans nearly the entire length of the footprint (24ftx9ft) using custom made 9’x4’ beams. Joists and loft boards installed on top and it was ready for various oversized customer exhibits.

Let there be light!

A big (and expensive!) part of the plans for the new studio was to create a full size entrance feature that allowed tonnes of natural light to flood in.

This meant we had to cut the whole end out so we could have a full sized aluminium window and door manufactured to fit perfectly.

It was a bit scary cutting a massive hole out as there was no going back! However, we were confident it was the feature that would be most appealing and worked better for the internal layout.

We also used a section of the wall to fill in the hole that was left by removing the old UPVC door that had to go!

The Box | Y bocs update

One of the first satisfying jobs we did was to remove all the UPVC cladding that was covering the exterior to reveal the shell. Unfortunately we discovered that the area around the door had been leaking previously, so all the rotten timber was stripped out and replaced with new and made solid.

The electrics throughout the portakabin were not really up to current regulations so these were all stripped out and replaced. kids were employed to help tidy up!
