We work with businesses of all sizes to create innovative websites with eye catching designs, as well as mobile, console, and web apps and games. Chaos Created works cross-media, producing apps and games for phones, tablets, PCs, and consoles, as well as web site design, video production, advertising and promotional materials, and more. Our in-house apps and games include Zombies Ate My City, Timedancer, Langeroo, Bad Day for a Balloon Ride, and Pancake Panic. We also run coding workshops for primary and secondary school students, as well as teachers, teaching app and game development.

If you've ever recorded anything with a co-host, you'll know this one.

Most teleprompters hand two presenters a single undifferentiated block of text. You find out your line has arrived at roughly the same moment the silence does, and then you both start talking at once.

Onwords lets you assign each line to a presenter. It tints them on screen — pale yellow for one, pale blue for the other — and follows whoever is speaking. You can see your line coming three or four lines out, which is the whole point.

One microphone between you, nothing extra to set up, and no need to agree in advance who is driving the scroll.

We made this for our own two-hander shoots, and it's the feature that has saved us the most takes.

We're thrilled to be back in Blaenau Gwent this week! 🎮

Yesterday we kicked off at Bryn Bach Primary School, delivering coding games workshops through Chaos Created's Code Created initiative. We had an incredible day with their Year 5 and Year 6 groups, building on what we covered together last year, and this time creating a top-down dungeon crawler game with them from scratch.

It's the first of many school visits this year as we continue our partnership with the BG STEM Project, bringing coding workshops to schools right across the region. The BG STEM Facilitation Project, funded by the Welsh Government's Tech Valleys initiative, is doing brilliant work transforming STEM education across Blaenau Gwent, and we're proud to be part of it.

What makes our workshops special is that we bring real, hands-on industry experience into the classroom. Whether a pupil dreams of being a programmer, artist, designer or games tester, they get a genuine taste of making something from scratch, and leave with a playable game they've built themselves.

Huge thanks to Hayley Boulton and the whole BG STEM team for having us back, and to everyone at Bryn Bach for such a warm welcome. Here's to a wonderful year ahead.

We've just recorded another episode of Difficult Conversations, the podcast series we're producing for the University of Leicester's I-REACCH project. That's seven episodes recorded, with the first releasing on 1st October. 🎙️

This episode was recorded with Dr Cleo White, on empathic and inclusive research leadership.

Cleo has developed the CIRCLE Toolkit (Creating Inclusive Research Cultures through Leading with Empathy), built not for researchers but with them, shaped by listening to people's real experiences of leadership at the university.

Through that work, Cleo noticed that when people talked about leadership, they didn't mention policies or frameworks at all. They remembered the small moments: being interrupted, overlooked, not credited, or on the flip side, simply being asked how their morning had been. It's the tiny everyday interactions, good and bad, that add up to whether someone feels they belong.

There was a lovely distinction, too, between kindness and empathy. Kindness matters, but empathy asks more of you: being curious about the other person, challenging your own assumptions, and sometimes having the difficult conversation rather than just being nice.

Another thoughtful, honest conversation, hosted by K**e Ladipo, PhD, SFHEA and Gez Williams, PhD.

We kept trying teleprompter apps, and kept giving up on them. They scroll at a fixed speed, so you spend the whole take chasing a machine instead of talking to the camera.

So we built our own. Onwords listens, works out where you are in the script, and moves the text to match you. Pause, and it waits. Fumble a line, and it stays put. Skip a section, and it catches up.

It handles two presenters, colour-coded, following whoever is talking. Everything happens on your own PC — no cloud, no account, no internet needed. And it runs on whatever screen Windows can see, including the prompter mounted on your camera.

Here's what makes Onwords unique.

Every other teleprompter scrolls at a fixed speed, so the presenter spends the whole take matching a machine. Onwords works the other way round. It listens, works out where you are in your script, and moves the text to match you. Pause for emphasis, and it waits. Fluff a line, and it stays with you. Skip a whole section because the last take covered it, and it finds you again within a sentence.

Speech is recognised on your own machine. No account, no cloud, no internet connection needed, and nothing you say or write ever leaves your computer.

We've just recorded another episode of Difficult Conversations, the podcast series we're producing for the University of Leicester's I-REACCH project. That's six episodes now. 🎙️

This one takes on "publish or perish", the relentless pressure academics feel to keep publishing, with Dr Ruoying Zhou.

Ruoying talked about how we mostly see other people's successes, the accepted papers, the funded grants, the promotions, while the setbacks stay hidden. Scroll any social platform and it's all wins, so we end up comparing our own behind-the-scenes to everyone else's highlight reel, and it's easy to feel you're falling behind. Her point that we need to normalise failure, and talk about the knock-backs as openly as the good news, is one that reaches far beyond academia.

We spent the day back at the Institute for Policy at the University of Leicester, filming the latest round of their Policy Briefs series: one-minute videos that distil a researcher's briefing paper into something anyone can watch and understand, helping to amplify their incredible work.

This shoot was special for another reason: it was the first proper field test of Onwords, our new voice-following teleprompter app (https://onwords.app) that we've been building over the summer. A full day of real presenters, real scripts and real filming conditions (complete with construction noise!) was far more valuable than any amount of testing at the desk with a podcast microphone. We gathered a ton of data, and it's already fed straight back into improving the voice tracking, particularly for the trickier setups where the screen or microphone isn't directly in front of the speaker.

And the films themselves were a joy to work on, as always. We recorded Emily Wertans and Dr Amy Clarke on tackling hate crime, Matt Hopkins on corrosive attacks, Raúl González Muñoz on EU cooperation in space, and Lorena Rosen on shift working. Every one of them was wonderful in front of the camera, and it was fascinating to hear each researcher talk through their work and why it matters. We're really looking forward to getting these edited together. 🎬
