Brands will always make sure they have a full marketing strategy in place & the same should be for their social media marketing!

No matter what your goal is on social media you need to define a clear foundation from creating a social media strategy. Not only will this help define your key goals but it will also give you a step by step method on how to achieve these goals AND learn from everything you do!

Often social media managers are expected to achieve X amount of followers in X amount of time. Whereas instead a social media manager should be looking at WHERE the company wants to go, HOW they are going to get there & WHAT is needed to achieve this. It's all about achievable goals that are measurable and it all starts with creating that core strategy foundation.

No? That's because that isn't how content is delivered anymore!

Content is delivered through engagement. I'm going to reword my question for you ....

CONTENT PILLARS - Are they important?

Simple answer - YES

Long answer - YES

Without content pillars in your social media strategy you have no structure to the content you share. You want the content that you share to resonate with your audience and keep them interested - you don't want to share the same messaging or content that you think looks great but in fact content you already know your audience is seeking.

A content proposition strategy with structured and weighted content pillars allows you to have a structure to follow when planning your content for the month ahead.

Examples could be:
Pillar 1 - Brand messaging (this can encompass messaging around brand awareness to fun office incentives - give that personality to your brand).
Pillar 2 - User generated content (Interviews with customers, customer images, reviews...).
Pillar 3 - Sales Focussed (This pillar you would focus on the sales related messaging for example offers you are running that month or incentives to buy from you etc).

This would then mean that your content would need to incorporate these 3 core messages and avoid you getting caught up in one repetitive or *needless of a better word* boring content that essentially wastes your time and effort.

Remember .... content doesn't win - optimised content wins! Let your content do the work for you!

INSTAGRAM ENGAGEMENT TIPS - My top 3 tips that you can start using today to increase your engagement on the platform!

1 - CONSISTENCY
This is absolutely KEY and is all about being achievable and realistic. Don't say to yourself "I'm going to post once a day if you simply cannot post once a day". Think about what you can action and, more importantly, what you can stick to. I promise it will pay off!

2 - ENGAGE
You want engagement but aren't engaging yourself? Get scrolling!! The key to building a relationship with other accounts and therefore boosting engagement, reach and visibility is to engage with them first. Give yourself a set time each day, whether it's while you are having your morning coffee or just at the end of your lunch break, and take 10 minutes to go through and actively engage with other accounts. Oh and commit to the engagement - don't go through and just like loads of posts - add value!! Comment your thoughts, start a conversation.

3 - BEFORE & AFTER TRICK
We all know how much the algorithm changes on Instagram but one thing that is consistently the same is how the platform views YOUR activity. If you post and ghost then the algorithm will notice you aren't active on the platform and aren't actively engagement so you're already doomed in the algorithm. Try this trick ... know you are going to post at 4pm? Pop on at 3:45 and start engaging and keep popping back on actively for that next hour or so. Keep that time as your GO GO GO time to really boost engagement - not only by actively replying quickly to any activity on your post but also to other posts on the platform. Trust me - it works!
