Ask most marketers the stats they need to report to clients/bosses, and they will probably say traffic numbers, bounce rate clicks etc.

But with changes to data tracking now with us, whilst that is something to track (we need to test and learn), the era of zero-click social content is upon us.

But what is zero click content, I hear you ask?

Zero-Click content is content that offers valuable, standalone insights (or simply engaging material) with no need to click. Clicking might be what you want, but you gotta let go of the need to send people elsewhere.

Better put, the major platforms want to keep you where you are and not have you leave their ecosystem. So this means you gotta give all your content value up front and hope for the best with getting people to your website - It is one of the reasons one of the metrics I track is direct visitors to the website, not just traffic numbers. It is an informal test of brand recognition, after all.

When I say Zero clicks, I don't mean all the long 'story 'posts. I mean, yes, they have a place. But it is not just that.

What I mean is, you know that blog post you wrote that you really want people to go to your website to read? Yeah, you gotta get over that.

Instead, you need to really up your repurposing game and create some text posts summarising your blog and couple that with carousel post, video or animation graphics that teach the reader something right there and then - that they can go away with and action.

Now, this is tough cos, as most marketers will know, we need to prove ourselves all the time in numbers. But what we really to be working on is talking clients through this change and leading the way with audience and email list growth, engagement, social shares and SALES!
