…give me a shout. Seriously, just drop into my DMs.

I’m Lou and I run The Social Cuppa. I help small businesses show up online in a way that feels manageable, sounds like them and actually works.

Whether you need someone to take it all off your plate or just point you in the right direction, I’m always up for meeting for a cuppa and maybe a slice of cake 😊

Instants have been with us for a few weeks now, how are you getting on? Have you tried them? Do you even know how to find them? 😂

Well I have been having a play and I think they are pretty great. Think old school Instagram where you just snap and post I really do like it! No hook, no music, no text just a quick snap!

There is even a separate app but you can do everything through the main Instagram app.

Simply find them in your messages (paper plane at the bottom of your screen) and then they are bottom right. Subtle right?!

Anyway I really feel you should give them a try because Instagram absolutely loves promoting a new feature and you will be rewarded for using it, just saying!

Let me know what you think below or if you have questions happy to help!

And really your social media reach works exactly the same way. You go quiet for a few weeks and your views and engagement take a nosedive, (fast). But if you take the time or hire someone to help (😉) show up consistently and you use the features each platform keeps giving you for free (hello trial reels and instants)….The sunshine comes back. Every time.

If you are feeling a little stuck I’ll let you in on a secret…I love talking about social media, especially when small businesses are involved, so please feel free to jump into my inbox!!

I genuinely debated deleting the whole thing and pretending it never happened. 😂

But then I thought, nobody actually noticed as much as I did. Nobody yelled. Nobody unfollowed me. The world kept spinning.

I’m my own worst critic and honestly I bet you are too.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to get it right every single time. And when we don’t we spiral.

Meanwhile our audience has already scrolled past and forgotten about it.

Post the thing. Check it first obviously. But if you miss something, own it, laugh about it and move on.

We move. Always. 😊

Drop your worst social media blunder below, I genuinely need the company.😆

You may have noticed yesterday. I did! 😂

If your follower count suddenly dropped overnight you are not alone and you have done absolutely nothing wrong. 👀

People across Instagram are reporting big drops and it’s affecting everyone from small businesses to celebrities.

Nobody has officially confirmed why yet but it’s looking like a cleanup of fake, inactive or bot accounts. Or possibly a glitch. Either way, not your fault, not your content. Promise!

I’m here to reassure you a little through…Every follower you have left is a real person who genuinely chose to follow you. A smaller engaged audience will always beat a big inflated number full of accounts that are never going to buy/ use your service, from you anyway.

So don’t panic.

Just keep showing up for the people who are actually there.

Your real audience is still here. Go show up for them.

Save this and share it in case anyone else is having a little panic right now 👇

Okay so I’m just going to say it. 😂

If you are a small business owner and you are still avoiding video content in 2026, I need you to hear this with love, you are leaving so much reach on the table it’s genuinely painful.

I get the fear. I really do. The sound of your own voice. Not knowing what to say. Filming something seventeen times and deleting every single one. Been there. Still there some days if I’m honest. 😂

But here’s what the data actually tells us:
Video content, especially Reels, reaches people who have never heard of you before. Static posts mostly reach the people already following you.

So if growth is the goal? If you want new people to find your business? Video isn’t really optional anymore. It’s the single most effective free tool available to small businesses right now.

And it does NOT have to be perfect.

No ring light. No script. No fancy setup. Just you, your phone, and something true to say.

Your next customer is out there scrolling right now. They just haven’t found you yet.

Go make the video. Post it. I promise the world won’t end.

Save this for the next time you talk yourself out of it. And if you want help figuring out what to post, my DMs are open.

Saving this one for myself too if I’m honest. 😂

We all need reminding sometimes. Running a small business is a lot, and your socials are usually the first thing to fall off the list when life gets busy.

But what I do know after years of doing this: the businesses that grow aren’t always the ones with the best content. They’re the ones that kept showing up.

Click save for the next time you need a little nudge. And if you want someone in your corner you know where I am. ☕

Consider this a love letter to every small business owner who has a social media manager. 😂

I love what I do. I just love it a little bit more when you do these things. ☕💜

10/10 client behaviour 💋

Today I have officially close the Tea & Crochet shop.
Typing that still feels unreal.

This business has been my companion through motherhood, tough seasons, rebuilding, lockdown, joy, burnout, new beginnings and everything in between. It started in nap times with YouTube tutorials and ended with designs of my own worn all over the world.

I have loved this with my whole heart.
And now I get to close this chapter with love instead of burnout.

Thank you for letting me grow up here.
Thank you for every order that made me cry happy tears.
Thank you for every rep who became family.
Thank you for letting my hats become part of your memories.

This isn’t failure.
This is growth.
This is me choosing what fits the life I’m living now, not the one I had nine years ago.

And I’m so incredibly grateful to have shared this journey with you. Thank you so much!

Lou x

This made my day… well, my whole year to be honest. One of my lovely reps sent me a TikTok livestream and there was Santa… wearing my hat. I had to blink a few times to check I wasn’t seeing things 😂🎅

It hit me right in the heart.
Especially now, with the shop closing at the end of the month. The timing is wild and honestly a little emotional.

Small businesses are having such a hard time right now. So many are closing quietly because they simply cannot compete with Black Friday noise or the big places like Amazon.

So if you can this month… shop small.
Choose the makers, the tiny shops, the people doing everything themselves between school runs and late nights. It makes more difference than you will ever know.

Santa gets it.
And to everyone who has supported Tea and Crochet over the past nine years… thank you. You have kept this little dream going far longer than I ever imagined 🧶💛
