I love a fun project to work on and really enjoyed this one with Lee Petts of Fifty2M

Lee approached me to create a 'Banksy' lookalikey graphic of DJ Pete Tong and Gromit to be sprayed in the centre of Preston, Lancashire to help promote awareness for The Preston Weekender. Now whether it looked like it or not, it did drive some interest 😆🥸

Do you know why I chose ‘Geminus Design’ as my company name?

When I first started thinking about naming my business it took me ages, typical creative flicking from one thing to the other with nothing really winning me over… I kept jumping from one quirky name to the other, should it have this, should it have that… In the end I thought, was there anything about me that I could incorporate to add a touch of my personality without using my name? 🤔

Did you know I am a twin? Also, my star sign is Gemini which is based on the twins. On a business level I also liked the idea of myself being partnered / working closely together with a company and getting to know them and their needs so I came to decision I would go down the Gemini route… whether it was right or wrong I liked it ☺️

After looking into it there was quiet a lot of Gemini Designs out there, so I looked into it further and at the time I fell upon the name ‘Geminus’ (in Latin meaning twin, well I hope anyway ha) so I went with that.

This was my process when I created my logo which I still follow today:

• Research / mind map
• Sketch Ideas
• Look into colours / fonts
• Artwork up preferred choices
• Artwork and finalise chosen design
• Create all the relevant files to use CMYK, RGB etc

Moving on 15 years later my logo has changed from the first one I created to the one I use below and in my eyes that is ok. I have grown as a person, my business has grown, styles have changed, social media is a thing so sizes/formats have changed etc... I have moved on although I am still that no fluff, no technical jargon, honest, reliable person I was back in the day 👍🏻

I constantly love looking at new styles and trends and I think it’s ok to keep reviewing your branding, assets etc to stay relevant… well I think so anyway…

Finishing off my Friday by showing you one of my latest projects ☺️

I really enjoyed working on these mini brochures with Elisha Lowther at Strongdor Limited, there were four in total each with a different look to them.

The visuals enclosed are showcasing their Firedor range.

• Company Booklet

• Firedor Booklet - Fire and thermal-rated steel doors.

• Securidor Booklet - Securidor are substantial door-sets that are ideally suited for use in banks, data centres and security-sensitive military installations.

• Acoustidor Booklet - Acoustidor leads the way in noise control.

My brief was to follow their strong brand identity they already have in place but they allowed me to add my own modern twist to the design.

A first for me....

When Smiths Hire contacted me to create some vehicle livery I was super excited it would be going on this monster truck amongst other vehicles within their fleet ☺️

I worked alongside David Turner and his team to make sure the style and brand was on point. Their vehicle livery will promote the company and its services, whilst also helping to keep them in front of their customers whilst out and about.

Vehicle graphics are a great way to advertise your company and make you more visible to potential customers.

New Work ☺️

McKee Associates

I recently had the pleasure of helping create a logo and brand guidelines for Duncan McKee of McKee Associates, a mechanical, electrical and public health building services consultancy.

Duncan wanted something modern and professional to stand out within his sector.

My task was to make sure he could use his logo over all platforms so created it in various formats for him along with the stand along ‘MA’.

The brand guidelines created includes his logo, assets, fonts and also colours used which will help him when moving his brand forward and will also be useful for when anyone else needs to use his logo in the correct format.
