Today my design business is fu***ng seventeen years old.

SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD!

How the f**k did that happen?

To be fair I thin I have only lost two clients, binned three, taken one to court, but in the on most part worked with some amazing people who have let me loose on their branding and brands.

If you see this and I have worked with you, thank you. If you see this and you still owe me money from 2009, then I never forget! EVER!

So in the spirit of a great birthday, please just send money this year, not cards.

How do I design a logo for a brand?

Well, I grab a generic font, a stock graphic from any free online library, whack in some colour and just add them together, and if it looks OK, I’ll run with it.

Do I f*ck! Some people will though... Be careful, it’s a 'logo jungle' out there.

I research, think, revisit, sketch - lots, I redo, clarify, draw and live with it for a while. I’ll revisit again, refine, tweak and change it until I feel it will work well for the client and their brand.

It’s that easy!

Binge watched this at the weekend, but this highlights the importance of a unique typography style, and not just using stock type out of the box. Put your one slant on type! Love this treatment so much.
